      Advice: This was Burleson's second straight game with a homer after he went 12 contests without one. The 25-year-old is up to seven homers through 51 contests in 2024, one long ball shy of matching his total from 107 games last year.       Pinch-hitter Pavin Smith hit a two-run homer off Randy Rodriguez in the bottom of the ninth to give the Diamondbacks a 4-2 win over the Giants on Monday.

      Advice: Smith’s 424-foot shot to center would have been a double had it turned a few inches to the left, but that still would have been enough to win the game. It was Smith’s second homer in 50 plate appearances this season and 30th in 1,144 trips to the plate since he debuted in 2020.       Advice: Gallo launched his fifth home run of the season, but he has seen his playing time decrease over the past week. The 30-year-old has started just four of the past seven contests following a streak of 10-consecutive starts.     • Luis Arraez (shoulder) doesn’t play against Angels
      Luis Arraez, day-to-day with a shoulder injury, was quite obviously not available as a pinch-hitter Monday in a 2-1 loss to the Angels.

      Advice: Padres manager Mike Shildt indicated before the game that Arraez might be available off the bench tonight but then held him out while using David Peralta and Tyler Wade as pinch-hitters in the seventh and ninth innings, respectively. The 24-year-old continues to crush left-handed pitching, entering Monday's game with a .444/.483/.815 slash line against southpaws.       Jeimer Candelario went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and a two-run home run against the Rockies on Monday.

      Advice: Candelario belted a two-run shot in the third inning before adding a double and another run in the fifth. After an 11-game homerless drought in the middle of May, he's knocked three home runs over his last 11 contests. During that span, he's boosted his season OPS from .663 to .739 through 214 total plate appearances.       Advice: Hoskins' seventh-inning blast off Zack Wheeler was the Brewers' only run of the night. The 31-year-old still managed to be productive, however, notching his second stolen base of the season in a strong all-around performance.
