• Records fifth steal
Gimenez went 0-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and a run scored in Tuesday's 11-7 loss to the Tigers.

Advice: After ending April with three straight multi-hit efforts, Gimenez has gone a mere 5-for-26 over seven contests to begin May. The steal was his first since April 28. The second baseman is at a .263/.333/.353 slash line through 151 plate appearances, but he's mustered just nine extra-base hits, including only one homer, after logging 15 long balls, 27 doubles and five triples in 153 games a year ago. Gimenez is also striking out at a career-low 15.9 percent rate, though he may need to give back some of his plate discipline to produce more power. Rotowire.com 3 minutes ago

  • Heading back to bench Wednesday
Ortiz is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals.

Advice: After sitting in four straight games to close out this past weekend, Ortiz picked up starts at second base and third base in the Brewers' first two contests in Kansas City, going 1-for-5 with a solo home run and a walk between those games. The 25-year-old still looks to be the Brewers' preferred option at the hot corner, though he'll give way to Oliver Dunn on Wednesday. Rotowire.com 3 minutes ago

  • Retreats to bench Wednesday
Hoskins is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals.

Advice: Hoskins will get the afternoon off in the series finale in Kansas City after he had started in each of the Brewers' previous eight games. Gary Sanchez will spell Hoskins at first base. Rotowire.com 5 minutes ago
  • Posts three hits in win
Ramirez went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's 11-7 loss to the Tigers.

Advice: Ramirez endured an 0-for-17 slump over a five-game stretch from April 30 to May 4, but he's bounced back by going 5-for-11 with two homers and five RBI over his last three contests. That slump has still left a mark -- the third baseman is slashing .245/.290/.448 on the year with seven homers, 30 RBI, five steals and 24 runs scored through 155 plate appearances. He's on track to get back over the 100-RBI mark after missing out in 2023. Rotowire.com 6 minutes ago

  • Lifts another homer
Naylor went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk and two total runs scored in Tuesday's 11-7 loss to the Tigers.

Advice: Naylor has gone 6-for-24 with three homers and seven RBI over his last seven contests. He was swinging a hot bat earlier in the season, but he's traded a bit of contact for more power in recent weeks. Naylor is slashing .276/.364/.553 with nine homers, 28 RBI, 18 runs scored, seven doubles and two steals over 34 games. With top prospect Kyle Manzardo slumping to begin his major-league career, Naylor should continue to play on a near-everyday basis between first base and designated hitter. • Exits 40-man roster
Speas was designated for assignment by the Athletics on Wednesday.

Advice: He's yielding his spot on the 40-man roster to Easton Lucas. Speas was acquired via trade from the White Sox last month and has held an ugly 12.08 ERA over 11 relief appearances this season with Las Vegas. Rotowire.com 12 minutes ago

  • Takes loss Tuesday
Avila (0-1) allowed a run on three hits and two walks while striking out four over three innings to take the loss Tuesday versus the Tigers.

Advice: Guardians starter Logan Allen was pulled in the third inning after allowing a tying run that knotted the game at 7-7. Avila was better in a longer relief appearance, but he was tagged with the loss due to a lack of offense from Cleveland after that point. Avila has pitched to a 6.11 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 20:8 K:BB over 17.2 innings across eight appearances between Cleveland and San Diego this season. His ERA is 3.72 across four outings with the Guardians, but it's still possible Avila loses his place on the 26-man roster once Eli Morgan (shoulder) completes a rehab assignment. • Returns to Triple-A
The Brewers optioned Black to Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday.

Advice: After being called up from Nashville last Tuesday, Black got a look in a near-everyday role, starting in five of the Brewers' ensuing seven games. However, the 23-year-old managed just five hits while striking out eight times in 22 at-bats in his first taste of the big leagues, prompting the Brewers to pull the plug on him with Christian Yelich (back) returning from the 10-day injured list Wednesday. Black should continue to see regular playing time at Nashville and will likely be one of the top options for a call-up if the Brewers need an extra corner infielder at any point. • Sent down to minors
The Athletics optioned Harris to Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday.

Advice: Harris was up with the big club for only a couple days, allowing four runs over 5.1 innings in an extended relief appearance Tuesday versus the Rangers. He should slide back into Las Vegas' rotation. Rotowire.com 14 minutes ago
