• Fires 7.2 innings Monday
Nelson allowed two runs on six hits over 7.2 innings in a no-decision Monday. He struck out one during the win over the Giants.

Advice: Nelson gave up one run through six innings before Heliot Ramos knocked a solo shot in the seventh. It was Nelson's longest start of the year and his first time finishing more than six innings. He needed only 80 pitches to do so, but his one strikeout and four whiffs weren't very impressive. Nelson dropped his ERA to 5.44 with a 32:13 K:BB through 48 innings. His next start is projected to be in San Diego. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:09 pm
  • Tylor Megill allows five runs in win over Nationals
Tylor Megill was charged with five runs (four earned) over five innings on Monday in a win over the Nationals.

Advice: Megill wasn’t particularly sharp on Monday night at Nationals Park, surrendering seven hits, including a two-run homer to Joey Gallo. Fortunately he didn’t have to be at his best in this one as his Washington counterpart, MacKenzie Gore, turned in his worst outing of the season to date. The 28-year-old righty was unable to get the Nationals to chase in this one as he generated only six swinging strikes and finished with a lackluster 23 percent CSW. He notched four strikeouts and also handed out a trio of free passes. He’ll bring a respectable 3.00 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 24/9 K/BB ratio across 21 innings (four starts) into a favorable home outing next Tuesday against the Marlins. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:07 pm
  • MacKenzie Gore allows six runs in loss to Mets
MacKenzie Gore was shelled for six runs over 4 1/3 innings on Monday in a loss to the Mets.

Advice: Gore struggled to find the strike zone, and also failed to generate swinging strikes in this one, which turned out to be a pretty toxic combination. He wound up handing out a season-high four free passes and also surrendered seven hits, including a towering 420-foot solo shot to Mets rookie slugger Mark Vientos. He finished with a season-low two strikeouts in arguably his worst outing of the season. He’ll aim for better results his next time out on Saturday against the division-rival Braves. • Rodriguez picks up sixth win Monday
Grayson Rodriguez allowed two runs (one earned) in 6 2/3 innings and got the win in the Orioles’ 7-2 victory over the Blue Jays on Monday.

Advice: The win was Rodriguez’ sixth of the season. He gave up seven hits, walked none and struck out four. The Blue Jays scored on an RBI triple by Daulton Varsho and a solo home run by Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Rodriguez has allowed more than three runs in only two of his 10 starts this season. His ERA is now 3.28 on the year. The 24-year-old right-hander is set to face the Rays on the road this weekend. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:43 pm
  • Gausman allows six in loss to Orioles Monday
Kevin Gausman allowed six runs in 6 1/3 innings and took the loss against the Orioles on Monday.

Advice: Gausman gave up six hits, walked one and struck out three. He had thrown three quality starts in a row, but couldn’t keep the momentum going against the Orioles. Gausman had allowed five home runs in 11 previous starts, but gave up a home run to Anthony Santander and two home runs to Austin Hays. His ERA is now 4.60 on the season. The 33-year-old right-hander will look to bounce back against the Athletics on the road this weekend. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:41 pm
  • Julio Teheran opts out of minors deal with Cubs
Julio Teheran has elected free agency.

Advice: The 33-year-old hurler chose to exercise the opt-out clause in his minor league contract with the Cubs and is once again back on the open market. Teheran made eight brutal starts at Triple-A Iowa where he posted a cringe-inducing 8.82 ERA, 1.81 WHIP and a 37/11 K/BB ratio over 32 2/3 innings of work. Rotoworld Saturday, 2:49 pm
  • Opts out of deal
Teheran opted out of his minor-league contract with the Cubs on Saturday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.

Advice: After a brief stint with the Mets, Teheran elected free agency and signed an MiLB deal with the Cubs in April. He has since started eight games, logging an 8.82 ERA and 1.83 WHIP across 32.2 innings. The 33-year-old righty will once again test his luck in the open market, though another minor-league deal is likely the most he can hope for. Rotowire.com Saturday, 2:41 pm
  • Athletics recall LHP Brady Basso
Athletics recalled LHP Brady Basso from Triple-A Las Vegas.

Advice: Basso had a 9.49 in three starts with Triple-A this year and a 2.84 ERA in six starts with Double-A. He figures to serve as long relief in the Oakland bullpen. Rotoworld Friday, 12:55 pm

  • Back to majors
Oakland recalled Basso from Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday.

Advice: The 26-year-old southpaw will return to Oakland's roster alongside righty Dany Jimenez as Lucas Erceg gets placed on the 15-day injured list and Tyler Ferguson gets optioned down. Basso has appeared in three games with the Athletics' Triple-A affiliate this year, recording a 14:8 K:BB and 13 earned runs across 12.1 innings. Rotowire.com Friday, 12:37 pm
