    • Fans 12 in no-decision
King came away with a no-decision in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the A's, giving up two runs on four hits and two walks over five-plus innings. He struck out 12.

Advice: The right-hander set a season high in Ks and took a 2-0 lead into the sixth inning, but after allowing back-to-back singles to begin the frame, King left the mound and watched as Wandy Peralta let both inherited runners cross the plate. King hasn't been tagged for more than three runs in any of his last five starts, posting a 2.20 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 34:8 K:BB in 28.2 innings over that stretch. He'll face a much tougher test in his next outing, on the road early next week in Philadelphia. Rotowire.com Today, 6:26 am
    • Hit with first loss
Miller (1-1) took the loss Wednesday, giving up a solo home run in one-third of an inning as the A's fell 5-4 to the Padres.

Advice: With one out in the bottom of the ninth inning, Jackson Merrill drove the first pitch he saw from Miller down the right-field line for a walk-off homer. The Oakland closer may be wearing down -- over his last eight appearances he's served up three long balls and been scored upon four times, leading to a 5.59 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 14:6 K:BB through 9.2 innings during that stretch. • Locks down 12th save
Doval earned the save Wednesday against the Astros, striking out one in a perfect ninth inning.

Advice: Doval's held opponents scoreless in six of his last seven outings while improving to 12-for-14 in save opportunities this year. He lowered his ERA to 3.62 with a 1.54 WHIP and 35:19 K:BB across 27.1 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:27 pm
    • Earns sixth win
Webb (6-5) picked up the win Wednesday against the Astros, allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out five over six innings.

Advice: Webb held Houston to one run through his first five innings before giving up a two-run homer to Yordan Alvarez in the sixth. However, the Giants would hang on for a 5-3 victory while Webb logged his sixth quality start in his last seven outings. Overall, the right-hander sports a 3.02 ERA with a 1.20 WHIP and 78:20 K:BB across 92.1 innings this year. Webb's currently slated for a road matchup with the Cubs early next week. • Mason Miller serves up walk-off homer to Padres
Mason Miller allowed one run in the ninth inning on Wednesday and was saddled with a loss against the Padres.

Advice: Miller was called upon in a tie ballgame and wound up surrendering a walk-off solo shot to Padres rookie Jackson Merrill. It was just his first loss of the year and second run he’s allowed in four relief appearances this month. The flame-throwing 25-year-old righty has been one of the best high-leverage relievers in baseball and this looks like just a momentary hiccup in an otherwise stellar breakthrough campaign. • Michael King strikes out 12 on Wednesday vs. A’s
Michael King struck out a season-high 12 and allowed two runs over five innings on Wednesday in a no-decision against the Athletics.

Advice: King turned in one of his best outings of the year, generating an eye-popping 19 swinging strikes -- including 15 combined on his changeup and sweeper combination — and finished with a near-elite 39 percent CSW. The 29-year-old righty has allowed three earned runs or fewer in seven of his last eight starts since May 4. He’ll bring a solid 3.58 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 95/34 K/BB ratio across 83 innings (15 appearances, 14 starts) into a challenging road matchup on Tuesday against the red-hot Phillies. • Camilo Doval quiets Astros to collect 12th save
Camilo Doval tossed a perfect ninth inning on Wednesday against the Astros to collect his 12th save of the season.

Advice: Doval was tasked with protecting a two-run lead and needed only nine pitches (eight strikes) to slam the door. The hard-throwing 26-year-old stopper has reeled off four consecutive scoreless appearances since June 7 and converted 12 of his 14 save opportunities this season. He’s struggled a bit from a run-prevention standpoint, but remains one of the better closing options in the fantasy landscape. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:21 pm
    • Logan Webb completes six innings to defeat Astros
Logan Webb yielded three runs over six innings on Wednesday in a win over the Astros.

Advice: Webb limited Houston’s formidable, yet injury-depleted, lineup to just a fourth-inning RBI single by Jeremy Peña before Yordan Alvarez clobbered a two-run homer a couple frames later. Still, he was good enough to outduel Astros ace Framber Valdez at Oracle Park in this one. The 27-year-old workhorse will bring a strong 3.02 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 78/20 K/BB ratio across 92 1/3 innings (15 starts) into a road tilt on Tuesday against the Cubs at historic Wrigley Field. • Louie Varland sent back to Triple-A
Twins optioned RHP Louie Varland to Triple-A St. Paul.

Advice: Varland was called up for a spot start on Tuesday to give the starting rotation a rest and did well, allowing just one hit over five innings against the Rockies while walking only one batter and striking out three. He will head back to Triple-A to continue working on his changeup and cutter, which were two things the Twins were concerned about in his early-season struggles. He should be back up for starts later in the season or if another injury occurs in the Twins rotation. Jay Jackson was called up to take his place on the roster. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:00 am
