    • Grabs 16th save
Diaz earned the save in Tuesday's 2-1 win over Pittsburgh, striking out one in a perfect ninth inning.

Advice: Diaz made quick work of the middle of the Pirates' order Tuesday, logging his 16th save of the year. The right-hander has now converted his last nine save opportunities despite allowing three runs (two earned) in his prior three innings. Overall, Diaz sports a 5.27 ERA with a 1.50 WHIP and 28:19 K:BB across 27.1 innings this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:38 pm

    • Alexis Díaz earns 16th save on Tuesday
Alexis Díaz pitched a scoreless ninth inning to preserve a 2-1 win over the Pirates on Tuesday.

Advice: The save was Díaz’s 16th of the season and fifth in the month of June. It was a nice rebound from his tough outing against the Brewers last time out and Díaz has now thrown a scoreless inning in eight of his last 11 appearances. The bigger key for the 27-year-old was that he didn’t walk a batter in this outing, only the second time in June he’s accomplished that. He needs to keep the walks down if he’s going to continue having success at the end of games. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:15 pm

    • Albies triples, drives in one in win over Tigers
Ozzie Albies went 1-for-4 with a triple and an RBI in Tuesday’s win over the Tigers.

Advice: Albies hit his first triple of the season in the first inning to drive home Jared Kelenic. His RBI would be one of two the Braves would drive in on the evening in what turned into an unexpected pitching duel on the evening. Like many of his teammates, Albies has struggled at the plate this month, slashing .209/.229/.418, despite having nine extra base hits. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:03 pm

    • Lance Lynn has fourth straight rough start
Lance Lynn allowed six runs (five earned) on 10 hits in 5 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Marlins.

Advice: Lynn may have allowed only three extra-base hits, but he allowed 14 hard-hit baseballs and had an average exit velocity allowed of 95 mph. This is now the fourth straight rough start for Lynn, who has not pitched more than 5 1/3 innings in any of those starts, allowing a combined 16 runs (12 earned) in 18 innings. He did get 10 whiffs on 27 swings with his fastball on Tuesday but none of his other pitchers were particularly effective. He now has a 4.08 ERA and finds himself with a much tougher start next week against the Braves. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:46 pm

    • Making season debut Saturday
Scherzer (back/thumb) will return from the injured list and start against the Royals on Saturday, Jim Bowden of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Scherzer has been on the injured list all season while recovering from offseason back surgery and battling thumb/forearm injuries throughout his rehab process. However, after experiencing no issues following his latest rehab start at Triple-A Round Rock, the 39-year-old veteran has officially been given the green light to return to the Rangers' rotation. He posted a 4.91 ERA and 1.18 WHIP alongside a 17:3 K:BB through 11 innings during his assignment, and it's unclear if the right-hander will be working under any restrictions during his return to a big-league mound. • Report: Max Scherzer to make ’24 debut Saturday
The Athletic’s Jim Bowden reports Max Scherzer (back, thumb) will make his season debut on Saturday against the Royals.

Advice: It’s a soft landing spot for Scherzer, who is finally set to make his season debut after undergoing offseason back surgery and dealing with a nerve-related thumb issue during his rehabilitation process. The 39-year-old veteran isn’t the fantasy stalwart anymore from earlier in his career, but can still make an impact for fantasy managers on a per-start basis moving forward. • Sidelined for eight weeks
The Yankees placed Rizzo on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a right forearm fracture.

Advice: Per Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News, Rizzo will be shut down from all activities for up to five weeks, and it will be eight weeks until he's ready to play in games. Ben Rice is up to take his roster spot and is starting at first base Tuesday against the Orioles in his major-league debut. The Yankees also figure to use DJ LeMahieu at first base and Oswaldo Cabrera at third base some days while Rizzo is shelved. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:43 pm
    • Anthony Rizzo heads to IL with forearm fracture
Yankees placed 1B Anthony Rizzo on the 10-day injured list with a right forearm fracture.

Advice: Rizzo is expected to miss roughly two months after suffering a fracture in his right forearm last weekend during a first-base collision. The 34-year-old veteran first baseman hasn’t made much of an offensive impact, but he remains an excellent defender at the cold corner, which is where his loss will be felt the most over the next few weeks. There’s a chance he’s back at some point in mid-August. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:21 pm
    • Shut down for multiple weeks
Rizzo (arm) said Tuesday that he will be shut down from all baseball activities for 4-5 weeks, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Advice: When it was revealed Monday that Rizzo is dealing with a fracture to the radial neck of his right arm, the initial timetable of up to six weeks was provided. However, this latest report suggests a six-week absence could be a worst-case scenario. For his part, Rizzo said Tuesday he expects to play again this season. Ben Rice will be called up to take his spot on the Yankees' active roster. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:53 pm
