      Advice: Polanco will take a seat for the second day in a row while he manages a tight right hamstring. The Mariners are viewing him as day-to-day, but a trip to the injured list could become more realistic if Polanco is still not available to start coming out of Thursday's team off day.     • Pitches well in loss
      Cease (5-3) took the loss Tuesday against the Rockies, allowing three runs on five hits and a walk while striking out eight over 5.2 innings.

      Advice: Cease blanked the Rockies through three before Ryan McMahon took him deep to lead off the fourth. He then ran into some trouble in the sixth, allowing an additional run before being pulled with two outs in the inning and being charged with a third run before the frame concluded. It was just the second time this year Cease has failed to complete six innings and his first since his season debut. The strikeouts continue to pile up, as he's punched out at least eight in four of his last five starts and is second in the majors with 68 over 55 innings. He now owns a 2.45 ERA and 0.78 WHIP and lines up for a tough test on the road against Atlanta next week. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 6:55 am

      McMahon went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Padres.

      Advice: McMahon got the scoring going for the Rockies with a solo blast to right center off Dylan Cease in the fourth. It was his second home run this month and his first since May 3. He's now rocking a four-game hit streak with multiple hits in two of those while only striking out once over that span. McMahon has been one of the most consistent hitters in their lineup so far this year, slashing .308/.389/.481 with six homers, 22 RBI, 18 runs and a 22:50 BB:K in 180 plate appearances.       Greene (2-2) got the win over the Diamondbacks on Tuesday, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out five over seven innings.

      Advice: Greene's only blunder of an inning came in the third after he allowed the first two guys on before they came around to score on a base knock from Blaze Alexander. He otherwise kept Arizona quiet and put together an excellent rebound outing after some mixed results against the Diamondbacks last week. Greene has walked at least a batter in every start this season, but his one free pass was significantly better than the nine he'd given up over his last two starts. The 24-year-old flamethrower now owns a 3.27 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 58:22 K:BB in 52.1 innings. He lines up to complete a two-start week against the Dodgers this weekend.       Ryan Helsley recorded his 13th save with a scoreless ninth against the Angels on Tuesday.

      Advice: Helsley pitched a whole lot during April, but it definitely hasn’t caused any problems yet; he’s posted his best velocity numbers of the year his last two times out, averaging 101.0 mph with his fastball on Sunday and 100.7 mph tonight. He’s gone 14 straight appearances without allowing an earned run and the one unearned run he’s given up during the stretch was an automatic runner in the 10th inning.       O'Hoppe went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run and a walk in Tuesday's 7-6 loss to the Cardinals.

      Advice: O'Hoppe got the Angels back into the game with a fourth-inning blast off Sonny Gray. Since returning from a minor hand issue May 6, O'Hoppe has gone 9-for-31 (.290) with eight RBI over eight games.       Hunter Greene lasted seven innings and allowed two runs in the Reds’ 6-2 defeat of the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.

      Advice: Greene walked nine in his previous two starts, but he issued just one free pass tonight. He also went without giving up a homer, though Corbin Carroll’s shot to right to lead off the bottom of the first would have been a homer had the game been played in Cincinnati, rather than Arizona.
