    • Bullpen set for Wednesday
Hendriks (elbow) will throw a bullpen session Wednesday at loanDepot park in Miami, Peter Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

Advice: Wednesday's bullpen will be the first of three scheduled sessions for Hendriks, who is recovering from Tommy John surgery. He will throw again Friday and Sunday while the Red Sox are in New York for a series against the Yankees. Hendriks said Wednesday's session is about throwing pitches, while the weekend work is more about mechanics. He's essentially recovered from the surgery and is now building up arm strength. • Throws perfect eighth
Cruz struck out one over a scoreless inning and picked up a hold in Tuesday's 5-4 win over the Yankees.

Advice: The Yankees erased most of the Reds' 5-0 in the middle innings before Cruz and closer Alexis Diaz shut down New York's final six batters in order. The hold was Cruz's team-leading 16th. After a rocky first month-and-a-half, Cruz has settled in, pitching to a 2.08 ERA with 26 strikeouts over the last 17.1 innings (20 appearances). Rotowire.com Today, 4:38 am
    • Collects third win
Littell (3-5) earned the win Tuesday against the Royals, throwing five shutout innings while giving up four hits and striking out four batters.

Advice: Littell was remarkably efficient Tuesday, needing only 68 pitches to get through five innings. Had it not been for a two-plus-hour rain delay, the 28-year-old righty almost certainly would have made it deeper into the game. Nonetheless, Tampa Bay's offense provided just enough run support before his removal for him to record his first win since May 11. Littell will now carry a 3.94 ERA and 1.32 WHIP into his next start against the Rangers over the weekend. Rotowire.com Today, 12:35 am
    • Notches seventh save
Hoffman struck out two batters in a scoreless inning to collect the save Tuesday versus the Cubs.

Advice: The Phillies saw a 6-1 lead quickly get cut to 6-4 after Seiya Suzuki hit a three-run shot off Jose Ruiz in the ninth inning, so Philadelphia brought in Hoffman to make sure things didn't get out of hand. Jose Alvarado remains the team leader with 12 saves on the year, but Hoffman has also proven to be a reliable option with a 1.24 ERA in 36.1 innings. Rotowire.com Today, 12:29 am
    • Earns first MLB win
Mercado (1-0) picked up the win Tuesday against the Cubs, allowing one earned run on two hits and two walks while striking out four batters over five innings.

Advice: Mercado's 1.71 Triple-A ERA translated well into the big leagues Tuesday, as he was able to silence the Cubs' offense during his first career MLB start. The only blemish on the 25-year-old's record came via a third-inning RBI double courtesy of Cody Bellinger, but the right-hander responded by throwing back-to-back 1-2-3 innings before being pulled. With Spencer Turnbull (lat) set to miss 6-to-8 weeks and Taijuan Walker (finger) out through the All-Star break, Mercado will almost certainly be granted another start -- tentatively scheduled to come Sunday in Atlanta. • Takes loss Tuesday
Wesneski (2-5) took the loss Tuesday versus the Phillies, giving up five earned runs on five hits and three walks while striking out seven batters over five innings.

Advice: Wesneski struggled heavily in what was just his second start since May 8, as his five runs allowed set a new season high for the 26-year-old righty. Three of those runs came courtesy of Trea Turner, who hit a pair of home runs in the third and fifth frames. Wesneski has now surrendered eight earned runs in nine innings since returning to the Cubs' rotation. He's lined up to face the Angels on Sunday, and any starts beyond that point will likely depend on whether Javier Assad (forearm) is able to return from the IL. Rotowire.com Today, 12:26 am

    • Converts on save
Green picked up the save Tuesday against Houston, allowing one hit and no walks with two strikeouts across a scoreless inning.

Advice: Green has stepped into a temporary ninth-inning role with Jordan Romano (elbow) and Yimi Garcia (elbow) shelved. Though the pair have been sidelined for multiple weeks, Tuesday's contest was the first save opportunity offered since and Green stepped up and converted. Green has been exceptional for the Blue Jays this season, posting a 1.37 ERA with a 17:4 K:BB across 19.2 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:53 pm

    • Perfect for 18th save
Diaz picked up the save Tuesday against the Yankees, striking out one across a perfect ninth inning.

Advice: Diaz only needed nine pitches to retire Trent Grisham, Austin Wells and Anthony Volpe in order Tuesday. Diaz has fired five consecutive scoreless innings and is up to 18 saves on the season, which is tied for eighth most in baseball. Despite the strong save total, Diaz owns a 4.60 ERA across 31.1 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:50 pm
    • Perfect in non-save outing
Finnegan struck out one over a perfect inning in Tuesday's extra-inning loss to the Mets.

Advice: Finnegan entered in the top of the ninth in a 2-2 game and fired a perfect frame. The 32-year-old has delivered four consecutive scoreless innings, allowing two hits and one walk over that stretch. Finnegan owns the third-most saves in baseball with 22. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:48 pm
