    • Takes tough loss Friday
Miller (4-6) allowed three runs on three hits across an inning of work and took the loss Friday against the Angels. He struck out two.

Advice: Miller allowed two hits but had a chance to escape his inning with no damage before he allowed a two-out, three-run home run to Logan O'Hoppe. The veteran righty had been pitching well this month with a 2.25 ERA across seven appearances, so this likely is just a blip on the radar. However, Miller does now have a subpar 4.62 ERA overall, which he'll work on lowering in the coming weeks. Rotowire.com 4 minutes ago
    • Effective in team debut
Lopez worked around a hit to toss a scoreless inning of relief in Friday's 4-2 loss to the Brewers.

Advice: Lopez had his contract selected from Triple-A Iowa before the game, and he proceeded to make his team debut right away. The righty was dumped by the Mets earlier this year, and he struggled to a 5.95 ERA last season with three different teams, but he was an effective reliever as recently as 2022. If Lopez can get back to that form with the Cubs, he could establish a regular role in their bullpen. Rotowire.com 8 minutes ago
    • Marlins outright Kent Emanuel to Triple-A
Marlins sent LHP Kent Emanuel outright to Triple-A Jacksonville.

Advice: Emanuel went unclaimed on waivers after being designated for assignment earlier this week. The 32-year-old lefty has made five relief appearances this season for the Marlins. Rotoworld 31 minutes ago

    • D-backs recall Humberto Castellanos on Friday
Diamondbacks recalled RHP Humberto Castellanos from Triple-A Reno.

Advice: Castellanos received the call to rejoin Arizona’s relief mix for Friday’s showdown against the Athletics. The 26-year-old righty made one relief appearance earlier this months in mop-up duty. Rotoworld 35 minutes ago
    • D-backs option Scott McGough back to Triple-A
Diamondbacks optioned RHP Scott McGough to Triple-A Reno.

Advice: McGough was shipped back to the minors ahead of Friday’s game against the Athletics after compiling an underwhelming 7.33 ERA, 1.70 WHIP and 20/18 K/BB ratio across 27 innings (22 appearances, two starts) this season. Rotoworld 36 minutes ago

    • Poor in no-decision
Cecconi allowed three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out seven over four innings in a no-decision versus the Athletics on Friday.

Advice: Cecconi pitched six times in June, but he completed five innings just once. While he had just one truly awful start in that span, he allowed a total of 15 runs over 25 innings, albeit with a tantalizing 26:3 K:BB. Cecconi is at a 5.81 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 48:11 K:BB through 57.1 innings over 12 appearances (11 starts). He's tentatively projected for a road start versus the Dodgers next week. • Bounces back with quality start
Sears allowed three runs on five hits and a walk while striking out six over six innings in a no-decision versus the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Sears had been tagged for 12 runs over 5.2 innings across his previous two starts. He bounced back Friday, turning in his second quality start over five appearances in June, though he wasn't able to snap a six-start winless skid. The southpaw is now at a 5.00 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 62:29 K:BB over 90 innings through 17 starts. Sears hasn't displayed much upside and isn't likely to get much support in most games, making him a risky fantasy play. He's projected for a home start versus the Angels his next time out. • Fans seven in no-decision
Quintana came away with a no-decision in Friday's 7-2 win over the Astros, giving up two runs on six hits and three walks over four-plus innings. He struck out seven.

Advice: The southpaw tossed an inefficient 93 pitches (54 strikes) before getting the hook after allowing a leadoff single to Yordan Alvarez in the fifth inning. Quintana has failed to pitch more than four innings in three of his last five outings, but he hasn't given up more than three runs in eight straight, posting a 3.70 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 37:11 K:BB in 41.1 innings over that stretch. He'll look to give the Mets more length in his next trip to the mound, which is scheduled to come on the road next week against the Nationals. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:33 pm
    • Blows save, grabs win Friday
Doval (3-1) allowed a run on one hit and struck out one over over inning, blowing a save but earning the win Friday over the Dodgers.

Advice: Doval allowed a triple to Andy Pages, who came home on a Jason Heyward sacrifice fly that tied the game at 3-3 in the ninth inning. The Giants then got a walk-off home run from Brett Wisely to make Doval the pitcher of record despite his poor outing. He's given up nine runs over nine innings in June, though a pair of four-run meltdowns account for much of that damage. He hasn't been dominant this season with a 4.55 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 39:21 K:BB while converting 14 of 17 save chances over 31.2 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:24 pm
