    • Goes on IL with wrist inflammation
The Angels placed Rengifo on the 10-day injured list Friday with right wrist inflammation.

Advice: It appears an MRI cleared Rengifo of any structural damage in the wrist, but with the All-Star break looming, the Angels have opted to go ahead and put the super utility player on the IL. Rengifo will be eligible for activation on July 14, the last day of the first half, but realistically he'll probably be held out at least through the break. He had been seeing most of his playing time lately at third base, and that position now figures to be occupied mostly by Miguel Sano. Rotowire.com Today, 11:01 am

    • Begins rehab assignment
Anderson (illness) was sent to Triple-A Gwinnett on Friday to begin a rehab assignment.

Advice: Anderson has been out since late June with a bacterial infection but is feeling well enough to play in games again. He shouldn't require many rehab at-bats before being activated. Rotowire.com Today, 9:48 am

    • Out of lineup, MRI results TBD
Rengifo (wrist) remains out of the lineup for Friday's game versus the Cubs, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The Angels are still waiting on the results of an MRI on Rengifo's wrist, which he injured during Wednesday's game against the Athletics. He's currently listed as a reserve on the team's lineup card, but Keston Hiura has been added to the taxi squad and could replace Rengifo on the active roster, depending on the latter's test results. • Drawing start at third base
Mastrobuoni will start at third base and bat eighth in Friday's game against the Angels.

Advice: Christopher Morel is getting a second straight day in the designated hitter spot, so Mastrobuoni will be tasked with handling the hot corner. It's his first start since he was recalled from Triple-A Iowa back on June 18. Rotowire.com Today, 8:56 am

    • Moves to leadoff
Smith batted leadoff and went 2-for-4 in Thursday's 3-1 loss to San Diego.

Advice: Smith was moved up to leadoff, as a slumping Marcus Semien was given a rare day off. Smith continues to be a surprise and leads the Rangers with a 2.7 WAR. He should continue to see regular work at third base with Josh Jung (wrist) not expected to return until after the All-Star break. Rotowire.com Today, 6:22 am

    • Eugenio Suárez goes 0-for-4 against Dodgers
Even as his teammates were combining to put up nine runs, Eugenio Suárez went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts Thursday against the Dodgers.

Advice: The Diamondbacks said after Geraldo Perdomo returned last month that they’d start giving Blaze Alexander time over Suárez at third base, but not only did they not to do that, they’ve since sent down Alexander, even though Suárez has done nothing to inspire any confidence. He’s at .200/.287/.319 through 327 plate appearances. He has 96 strikeouts and 91 total bases. He’s gone hitless in exactly half of his 82 starts. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:28 pm

    • Belts three-run homer
Steer went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run, an additional run and a walk against the Yankees in an 8-4 victory Thursday.

Advice: Steer gave the Reds a 5-0 lead with his three-run blast to the short porch in right field in the fifth inning. The long ball was his 11th of the campaign, and he's just shy of the halfway point to reaching the 23 homers he hit last season. Steer also has 54 RBI, 41 runs and 13 stolen bases through 355 plate appearances this year. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:19 pm

    • Stays red hot
Sosa went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an RBI single during Thursday's 8-4 loss to Cleveland.

Advice: Sosa logged multiple hits for a fifth straight outing, saving the streak with a solo homer in the ninth inning off Nick Sandlin. The 24-year-old Sosa had gone yard only twice in his first 38 games, but he has matched that number during the hit streak. Sosa is slashing .252/.287/.392 over 151 plate appearances this season. • Scores four times
Miranda went 5-for-5 with three doubles, four runs and three RBI during Thursday's 12-3 win over the Tigers.

Advice: Despite Thursday's game being called after seven innings due to inclement weather, Miranda had his first career five-hit game, besting his previous total of three hits. The outing also extended Miranda's hit streak to eight games, a stretch in which he's gone 15-for-30 with 10 RBI. Although Miranda had been a regular piece of the Twins' lineup anyway, he'll own an even more secure role while Royce Lewis (groin) is shelved. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:11 pm
