    • Chase Silseth deals with elbow setback in Triple-A
Chase Silseth said he had a minor setback with his elbow, which is why he hasn’t pitched for Triple-A Salt Lake since June 27.

Advice: Silseth said the problem is resolved now, so it looks like he’ll be back pitching soon. Silseth opened the season in the Angels rotation, but he went on the IL with elbow inflammation after two starts. Since joining Salt Lake on a rehab assignment last month, he has a 9.50 ERA and a 10/13 K/BB ratio in 18 innings over four starts. Rotoworld Today, 9:12 am

    • Completes clean inning
Bednar (oblique) didn't allow a baserunner and struck out one in a scoreless inning of work in a rehab appearance Tuesday with Double-A Altoona.

Advice: Bednar was originally scheduled to pitch for Triple-A Indianapolis, but weather concerns shifted his appearance to Altoona. Regardless, it was a positive outing and he is presumably nearing a return to the big-league mound. Rotowire.com Today, 9:06 am

    • Joining big club for doubleheader
The Royals recalled Pennington from Triple-A Omaha to serve as their 27th man for the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader with the Cardinals.

Advice: Pennington will give the Royals a fresh arm out of the bullpen for the nightcap before he likely heads back to Omaha on Thursday. The 26-year-old lefty previously made his big-league debut last week in Colorado, retiring both of the batters he faced. Rotowire.com Today, 8:07 am
    • Cleared for rehab assignment
Bird (groin) was sent to Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday to begin a rehab assignment.

Advice: Bird has been out since late June with a groin strain, but he resumed throwing a few days ago and is now ready to test things out in a game setting. The reliever shouldn't need many rehab appearances since he hasn't missed much time, but with the All-Star break looming the Rockies could choose to hold him out until the second half. • Exits rehab start with injury
Hall (knee) was removed from his rehab start at Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday after getting hit in the forearm by a comebacker, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Advice: A 92 mph comebacker struck Hall in the left forearm during the third inning, causing him to be taken out of the game after throwing 54 pitches. For now, the team is labeling the injury as a forearm contusion, as no signs of a fracture have been found, though the 25-year-old is still in the process of being evaluated. Hall's outing Tuesday was expected to be his final appearance in the minors before he returned to Milwaukee, but the left-hander's latest injury may cause his return date to be pushed back even further. • DL Hall suffers forearm contusion in rehab start
DL Hall left his rehab start Tuesday with a forearm contusion after being hit by a comebacker.

Advice: This was due to be Hall’s final rehab start, though plans might be on hold now. He allowed one earned run in two-plus innings before exiting tonight. Returning from a knee injury, he hasn’t pitched more than three innings in any of his nine minor league outings over two separate rehab assignments. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:41 pm

Rangers signed RHP Matt Festa to a minor league contract.

Advice: Festa elected free agency over the weekend after passing through waivers unclaimed following his removal from the Mets’ 40-man roster. The 31-year-old righty heads to Texas as extra organizational relief depth. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:00 pm

    • David Bednar (oblique) sharp in first rehab outing
David Bednar (oblique) hurled a perfect inning on Tuesday for Double-A Altoona.

Advice: Bednar struck out one and needed just 17 pitches (12 strikes) to get through a scoreless frame in his first minor league rehab outing. The 29-year-old stopper figures to require a few additional appearances prior to returning to the closer role in Pittsburgh. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:25 pm
