      Atlanta placed Waldrep on the 15-day injured list Monday with right elbow inflammation.

      Advice: After Waldrep was roughed up his second MLB start in Sunday's 8-6 loss to the Rays, the coaching staff initially informed him that he was being optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett. However, David O'Brien of The Athletic, Waldrep then told team trainers that he was more sore than usual following Sunday's start, and exams revealed inflammation in his elbow. He'll thus stick around with the big club as a member of the injured list for now, but Waldrep will presumably be optioned to Gwinnett once he makes a full recovery from the inflamed elbow.       Jung (wrist) started at third base and went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored for Triple-A Round Rock on Sunday.

      Advice: Jung kicked off a rehab assignment for the Express and played five innings in the field. Texas manager Bruce Bochy previously targeted Jung for 30 at-bats before returning to the major leagues, but the manager acknowledged Sunday to Kennedi Landry of MLB.com that it's a fluid situation. "We'll kind of monitor how things are going with him, the at-bats, how his body is bouncing back," Bochy said. "But we don't have a specific number."       Steer went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Brewers.

      Advice: Steer gave the Reds a 3-0 lead in the fourth inning when he belted his eighth home run of the season. He's been quiet of late, having entered the contest on a 4-for-31 (.129) run with one RBI over the previous nine games. Despite the drop in production, Steer leads Cincinnati with 42 RBI.     • Clobbers pair of homers
      Ohtani went 2-for-3 with two solo home runs during Sunday's 3-0 win over the Royals.

      Advice: Ohtani teed off on Brady Singer, tagging the Royals' starter for solo homers in the third and sixth innings for Ohtani's second multi-homer game of 2024. The 29-year-old is now up to 19 home runs on the season, tied for fourth-most in MLB.     • Corbin Carroll doesn’t think injury is serious
      Corbin Carroll (ribs) told reporters after Sunday’s game that he doesn’t believe his rib injury is serious.

      Advice: He’ll undergo a precautionary MRI exam in Arizona on Monday before traveling to join the team in Washington. Carroll said he felt much better after Sunday’s game though, and is optimistic that he won’t have to miss any time. We’ll have to wait and see what Monday’s imaging yields.       Advice: Carroll left Sunday's 12-5 win over the White Sox in the seventh inning with left side discomfort, and he will now require some additional imaging. The Diamondbacks will begin a three-game series on the road against the Nationals on Tuesday, and with Carroll staying in Arizona for the MRI on Monday, it's possible that he's forced to miss at least one contest.       Corbin Carroll will remain in Arizona to get an MRI exam after leaving Sunday’s game with rib cage discomfort.

      Advice: The 23-year-old outfielder sustained the injury while making a throw from the outfield during Sunday’s game. While the exact nature and severity of the injury are not yet known, the fact that he’s heading for an MRI exam isn’t encouraging. If it’s an oblique issue, a stint on the injured list seems like a near certainty. Fantasy managers should be sure to have a contingency plan in place for next week.       Shohei Ohtani launched his 18th and 19th homers of the year Sunday off the Royals’ Brady Singer in a 3-0 win.

      Advice: The Dodgers’ other run came on the second of back-to-back homers from Freddie Freeman in the sixth. Ohtani’s first homer today was crushed 451 feet to center. Ohtani had been slumping some of late, having come in at .216/.310/.412 in June.
