    • Swipes bag in loss
Alvarez went 2-for-4 with a stolen base in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the Mariners.

Advice: Alvarez was just one of two Astros to have more than one hit on the evening and he recorded his second steal of the year in the sixth. Alvarez now has four multi-hit efforts in his last eight games and nine total for the month of May. For the season, the 27-year-old is slashing .269/.347/.447 with nine homers, 22 RBI, 27 runs and a 23:41 BB:K in 236 plate appearances. Rotowire.com 34 minutes ago

    • Lifts 15th homer
Soto went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Angels.

Advice: Soto has been in the zone lately, going 14-for-39 (.359) with six homers and 12 RBI over his last 10 contests. He's produced five multi-hit efforts in that span. The star outfielder is up to 15 long balls this season, and he's added a .312/.408/.581 slash line, 46 RBI, 40 runs scored, four stolen bases and 11 doubles over 56 contests. • Max Fried stymies Nationals’ bats in win
Max Fried threw eight shutout innings, allowing seven hits and striking out six in a win over the Nationals.

Advice: Fried has now allowed just one earned run over 17 innings in his last two starts. However, while he carved up the Cubs in his last time out, Fried managed without his best stuff on Tuesday. He had just nine whiffs on 45 swings for a 20 percent whiff rate and 24 percent CSW on the day; however, the Nationals were only able to muster one extra-base hit and couldn’t capitalize on their seven hits. Aces are able to produce even when they’re not executing as well as they can, and that’s exactly what Fried did tonight. He’ll now take a 2.97 ERA into a start against the A’s on Sunday. • Mason Miller shuts door on Rays for 11th save
Mason Miller earned a save by preserving a 3-0 win over the Rays on Tuesday.

Advice: Miller, who hadn’t pitched in two days, didn’t make it easy on himself. After getting the first two batters out, he allowed a single to Yandy Diaz and walked Brandon Lowe to bring the tying run to the plate before striking out Isaac Paredes to end the game. It was his 11th save of the year to go along with a 1.88 ERA. He has emerged as one of the most dominant relievers in baseball and with the A’s proving to be more competitive than many expected, Miller should easily eclipse the 20-save mark this year if he can stay healthy. • Absent again
McCormick is not in the Astros' lineup versus the Mariners on Tuesday.

Advice: This will be the third consecutive absence for McCormick after also sitting out Sunday's and Monday's contests. He made a return from an injured-list stint due to right hamstring discomfort last Tuesday and has recorded a hit across the nine plate appearances he's logged in the three games he's played in that span. In his place, Yordan Alvarez will start in left field while Jon Singleton slots in as the designated hitter and Jose Abreu draws the start at first base. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:43 pm

    • Shelby Miller (elbow) starts rehab assignment
Shelby Miller (elbow) will make a minor league rehab appearance on Tuesday for Triple-A Toledo.

Advice: Miller has been on the shelf since mid-May recovering from a hydro dissection procedure to alleviate nerve inflammation in his right elbow. The 33-year-old veteran righty should be ready to return to Detroit at some point in early June after a couple minor league rehab tune-up appearances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:21 pm

    • Michael Harris leading off for Braves vs. Nats
Michael Harris II is hitting leadoff against the Nationals on Tuesday.

Advice: Harris will get the first crack at the leadoff spot with Ronald Acuña Jr. now out for the season with his torn ACL. With Harris in the leadoff spot, he has the chance to be driven in by Austin Riley, Matt Olson and a plethora of other quality hitters in the Atlanta lineup. There’s a lot to like about this situation, outside of the bummer that is the Acuña Jr. injury. Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:05 pm

    • Activated from injured list
The Pirates activated Hayes (back) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday.

Advice: Hayes has been sidelined since early May with a back injury but will skip a rehab assignment and go directly back on the Pirates' active roster. The third baseman is slashing a disappointing .240/.322/.318 with just one home run and zero stolen bases this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:57 am

    • Pirates activate Ke’Bryan Hayes on Tuesday
Pirates activated 3B Ke’Bryan Hayes from the 10-day injured list.

Advice: Hayes returns after missing three weeks with inflammation in his back. The 27-year-old hasn’t been successful in 2024, when healthy, with a pedestrian .640 OPS. However, he was a solid option in 2023 with enough talent to suggest as a speculative add for those who need help in the corner infield. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:50 am
