    • Nolan Schanuel goes 0-for-6 from leadoff spot
Nolan Schanuel went 0-for-6 with three strikeouts from the leadoff spot Friday against the Angels.

Advice: We’re not sure what Schanuel is doing batting leadoff for the Angels at this point; yes, his approach is good, but he’s just not a major league hitter and he’s also a liability when he does reach base. It seems like the Angels ought to give Zach Neto an opportunity at the top of the order. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:12 pm

    • Belts another leadoff homer
Betts went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and two total runs scored in Friday's 7-3 win over the Reds.

Advice: Betts' last two homers have been of the leadoff variety, and they're his only two long balls in May. He's hitting .283 this month, though that's dropped his season-long average to a still-stunning .341 through 47 contests. Betts has added eight homers, 29 RBI, 40 runs scored, eight stolen bases, 11 doubles and three triples over 218 plate appearances while serving as the everyday leadoff hitter. • Josh Hader holds former team scoreless for save
Josh Hader didn’t give up a run while picking up a save Friday against the Brewers.

Advice: Hader gets the save against one of his former employers in Milwaukee. The southpaw has now saved six games in 2024, and he’s nearly halved his 8.38 ERA on April 19 to 4.50. The issues Hader was dealing with in the earliest portion of the campaign appear to have mostly subsided. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:55 pm

    • Peter Fairbanks earns fourth save on Friday
Peter Fairbanks worked a clean ninth inning striking out one Blue Jays on Friday for his fourth save.

Advice: Fairbanks finally saved his first game since returning from the IL. He’s allowed no earned runs with six strikeouts across four innings and looks back to his normal, dominant self. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:51 pm
    • Can't overcome rough first inning
Miller (3-4) took the loss Friday against the Orioles, allowing five runs (four earned) on six hits and a walk over 5.1 innings. He struck out one.

Advice: All of the damage against Miller came in the first inning, when the Orioles put up five runs before the right-hander could record an out. Miller would settle in and blank Baltimore over his final 4.1 frames, allowing just two more hits, though the Mariners couldn't climb out of the early hole in an eventual 9-2 defeat. The 24-year-old Miller has been solid this year overall, holding opponents to two runs or fewer in six of his nine starts. He sports a 3.08 ERA with a 0.99 WHIP and 52:16 K:BB across 52.2 innings this season. Miller is currently lined up for a tough road matchup with the Yankees in his next outing. • Colton Cowser drives in two as Orioles crush M’s
Colton Cowser singled, doubled, walked and drove in a pair of runs on Friday night as the Orioles crushed the Mariners.

Advice: Cowser clubbed a two-run double off of Bryce Miller in the first inning, extending the Orioles’ early advantage to 4-0. With his two-hit attack, the 24-year-old outfielder is now hitting .263/.348/.509 with six homers, 22 RBI and three stolen bases over 40 games on the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:38 pm

    • Bryce Miller hit hard in loss to Orioles on Friday
Bryce Miller was hit hard in Friday night’s loss to the Orioles, giving up five runs (four earned) on six hits across 5 1/3 innings.

Advice: The 25-year-old hurler walked one and recorded only one strikeout on the night. The Orioles jumped on him early and often in this one, with Gunnar Henderson blasting a leadoff home run to start a five-run uprising in the opening inning. Miller settled in nicely afterwards, but the damage had already been done. He got just six swings and misses on 86 pitches in the contest, posting an underwhelming CSW of only 22 percent. He’ll attempt to bounce back as he totes an impressive 3.08 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and a 52/16 K/BB ratio (52 2/3 innings) into Wednesday’s matchup against the Yankees in New York. • Gets break Friday
Caballero is not in the lineup for Friday's matchup against the Blue Jays, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: Caballero has started in the majority of games for Tampa Bay at shortstop this season, but he will get a break as the Rays kick off their series with Toronto. It's the 27-year-old's sixth absences in 46 this season, and he's slashing .252/.309/.360 with 17 stolen bases and 13 RBI. Amed Rosario will get the start in place of Caballero at shortstop and against the Blue Jays. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:17 pm

    • Jeffers returns to the lineup Friday
Ryan Jeffers is back in the Twins lineup, batting third against the Guardians on Friday.

Advice: Jeffers got the day off Thursday with the Twins playing a day game after a night game. Jeffers is enjoying his best season with a .283 average and .979 OPS this year. Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:10 pm
