    • Jordan Romano to resume throwing on Monday
      Jordan Romano (elbow) is scheduled to resume throwing on Monday.

      Advice: Blue Jays manager John Schneider added that Romano received an anti-inflammatory injection in his right elbow last weekend. It’s going to take a couple weeks for the 31-year-old closer to build up his arm strength before returning to Toronto’s bullpen, but it’s an encouraging sign that he’s been cleared to resume throwing again.     • Escapes with 13th save
      Diaz gave up a run on a hit and a walk in the ninth inning Friday, recording his 13th save of the season in a 3-2 win over the Cubs. He struck out one.

      Advice: The right-hander made things difficult once again, issuing a free pass with two outs before a Miguel Amaya double brought the tying run to the plate. Diaz was able to strike out Patrick Wisdom to end the game, however. Diaz has walked a batter in four straight appearances, but he's successfully converted six straight save chances. On the season, he carries a rough 5.55 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 27:18 K:BB through 24.1 innings, but for now the Reds are willing to let him work through his control issues.       Helsley picked up the save in Friday's 8-5 victory over Colorado. He pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts.

      Advice: Helsley handily retired all three batters faced in his third consecutive scoreless outing to gather his league-leading 21st save. The Cardinals closer has been stellar, suffering just one blown save in his 28 total appearances.     • Ryan Helsley picks up 21st save vs. Rockies
      Ryan Helsley converted a save while not allowing a run during Friday’s game against the Rockies.

      Advice: Helsley breezed through his inning with a pair of strikeouts and needed just 11 pitches to pick up his 21st save of the season.     • Alexis Díaz gives up run, earns 13th save
      Alexis Díaz recorded his 13th save despite giving up a run in the ninth Friday against the Cubs.

      Advice: After getting two well-hit lineouts to start the ninth, Díaz walked a batter and allowed an RBI double. He then struck out Patrick Wisdom to end the game with a 3-2 score. Díaz has made 26 appearances this season and turned in a perfect inning three times. Still, as shaky as he’s been, he’s 13-for-15 saving games. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:43 pm
       
    • Evan Phillips allows three runs in non-save spot
      Evan Phillips was charged with three runs in the eighth inning on Thursday in a non-save situation against the Pirates.

      Advice: Phillips got the call for his first appearance in nearly a week with the Dodgers leading by seven runs at the time and wound up surrendering four hits, including a three-run homer to Oneil Cruz. Fortunately, his struggles didn’t end up impacting the final result of the contest, but it certainly doesn’t do fantasy managers any favors in the ratio departments.       Fairbanks picked up the save Wednesday against Miami, striking out one over a perfect inning.

      Advice: Fairbanks tossed a perfect inning for the second consecutive night and extended his streak of appearances without an earned run to 12. He's allowed just seven hits and two walks during that stretch with 11 punchouts. Despite a nearly three-week IL stint, Fairbanks has eight saves in nine attempts and owns a 3.32 ERA overall.     • Pete Fairbanks closes out Marlins on Wednesday
      Pete Fairbanks slammed the door on the Marlins in the ninth inning on Wednesday, preserving a two-run lead to earn his eighth save of the season.

      Advice: The 30-year-old right-hander made quick work of the Marlins in this one, getting Dane Myers on a swinging third strike, Tim Anderson on a ground ball to shortstop and Vidal Brujan on a line drive to center to end it. He needed just 11 pitches (10 strikes) to dispatch of the Fish. On the season, Fairbanks now sports a 3.32 ERA to go with a 22/10 K/BB ratio over 19 innings on the season.       Blanco (5-2) took the loss Wednesday against the Cardinals, allowing four runs on five hits and two walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out two.

      Advice: Blanco held St. Louis to one run through his first four frames before surrendering three runs between the fifth and sixth innings. After starting the year 5-0, Blanco's now dropped back-to-back starts while allowing eight runs across 9.1 innings in that span. The 30-year-old right-hander still sports a solid 2.78 ERA with a 1.05 WHIP and 59:27 K:BB across 11 starts (64.2 innings) this year.
