• Officially activated
The Mariners reinstated Woo (elbow) from the 15-day injured list prior to his start Friday versus Oakland.

Advice: Woo will be making his season debut Friday versus the A's after missing the first month-plus of the season due to right elbow inflammation. The 24-year-old was spectacular during his rehab assignment, striking out 17 batters in 11.1 scoreless innings, and he'll have a chance to stay hot against a below-average Athletics lineup. Tyson Miller was designated for assignment in a corresponding move. Rotowire.com 3 minutes ago

  • Throwing off mound
Johnson (elbow) began throwing off a mound Friday, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Just six days after landing on the injured list, Johnson has already been given the go-ahead to throw bullpen sessions. He will presumably throw a few more before progressing to facing hitters, but the 33-year-old righty could be on track to return to Atlanta's bullpen when eligible May 19. Rotowire.com 10 minutes ago
  • MRI yields good results
Saucedo (knee) underwent an MRI on Friday which yielded "overall positive" results, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Saucedo was placed on the 15-day injured list with a hyperextended right knee Wednesday and after Friday's imaging, the team is hopeful he can return to the bullpen when he's first eligible to be activated May 23. The left-hander will likely need to make at least one appearance on a rehab assignment before being activated. Rotowire.com 12 minutes ago

  • Recalled from Sacramento
The Giants recalled Schmitt from Triple-A Sacramento on Friday.

Advice: With Nick Ahmed (wrist) headed for the injured list, Schmitt will come up from the minors to serve as replacement infield depth. The 25-year-old has spent all of 2024 with Sacramento, slashing .269/.313/.440 with 31 RBI across 147 plate appearances, and he will likely be used primarily off the bench while with the big-league club. • Headed to IL
The Giants placed Ahmed on the 10-day injured list Friday with a left wrist sprain.

Advice: Ahmed appeared to have sustained the injury on an awkward swing during his at-bat in the third inning in Thursday's game against Atlanta. Tyler Fitzgerald pinch hit for Ahmed in the fourth inning. Casey Schmitt, who was called up from Triple-A Sacramento in a corresponding move, is starting at shortstop and batting seventh for Friday's game against the Reds, per Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area. • Expected back in July
General manager Justin Hollander said Friday that Santos (lat) will likely remain out until July, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Santos has primarily been throwing from 60-to-90 feet at the Mariners' complex in Arizona, though he has thrown from up to 120 feet out. He will now move his rehab from Arizona to Seattle, though it remains unclear how far away the 24-year-old righty is from throwing off a mound. Santos has been on the IL all season due to a strained right lat. Rotowire.com 25 minutes ago

  • Progressing through injury
Phillips (hamstring) was out on the field playing catch Friday, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Advice: Phillips was placed on the 15-day IL on Sunday due to a Grade 1 right hamstring strain he sustained May 3 against Atlanta. He is eligible to return May 19, and the right-hander could return to action when his minimum IL stint is complete. Phillips has eight saves with a 0.66 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 17:4 K:BB over 13.2 innings this season. Rotowire.com 25 minutes ago

  • Beginning rehab assignment Saturday
Canzone (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma on Saturday, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Canzone is expected to play in four games with Tacoma before the Mariners will access his status. The 26-year-old has been on the 10-day injured list since April 15 with an AC joint sprain in his left shoulder and he now appears to be on the cusp of returning to the major-league roster. • Undergoes Tommy John surgery
Brash underwent Tommy John surgery on Wednesday, Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports 710 AM reports.

Advice: Brash injured his right elbow during spring training and was pulled off his throwing program after suffering a setback in late April. He will now be held out for the remainder of the year as a result of his procedure, but the Mariners are hopeful he will return in early June next season. Rotowire.com 36 minutes ago
