• Slugs 10th homer
Vierling went 2-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored in a 6-2 loss to the Phillies on Wednesday.

Advice: Vierling took Spencer Turnbull deep in the second pitch of the game for his second leadoff blast this season. Vierling now has 10 home runs through 72 games, which matches his career high from last season in 134 games. The 27-year-old has been hitting leadoff nearly every day for almost a month now and carries a .254/.288/.449 line for the season. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 1:52 pm

  • Matt Vierling clobbers leadoff home run in loss
Matt Vierling clobbered a leadoff home run off of Spencer Turnbull on Wednesday afternoon, but it wasn’t enough to lead the Tigers past the Phillies.

Advice: The 27-year-old slugger evened the score at a run apiece when he crushed the second pitch that Turnbull threw for a 413-foot (106.1 mph EV) solo shot to start the home half of the first inning. He also smacked a leadoff double off of Jose Alvarado to start the ninth inning, finishing the day 2-for-4. For the season, Vierling is now hitting .254/.288/.449 with 10 dingers and 32 RBI. • Guardians recall Jhonkensy Noel to make MLB debut
Guardians recalled OF Jhonkensy Noel from Triple-A Columbus.

Advice: Noel had an 1.156 OPS for Columbus this month, putting him at .295/.359/.578 with 18 homers for the season. It’s unclear how much of a role the Guardians will carve out for him versus righties, but he should definitely be the right fielder against lefties. He struggled to hit for average in previous years, and he’s a zero when it comes to steals, so he’ll need to keep showing plenty of power in order to be useful in fantasy leagues. • Summoned to big leagues
The Guardians recalled Noel from Triple-A Columbus on Wednesday. He'll start at first base and bat sixth in the Guardians' series finale in Baltimore.

Advice: Noel will hit the big leagues for the first time. The 22-year-old slashed .295/.359/.578 with 18 home runs over 65 games with Columbus this season. Much of that production has come since the start of May, with Noel producing a .343/.404/.651 line with 14 home runs in 43 contests over that stretch. Noel has also struck out at just an 18.1-percent rate since May 1, which is a positive development for a player who has often struggled to make contact during his minor-league career. While he can handle first base and the corner outfield spots in a pinch, Noel's best shot at consistent playing time in Cleveland could come at designated hitter. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 12:05 pm

  • Healthy again at Triple-A
Harris (undisclosed) has gone 4-for-8 with two solo home runs and two additional runs in two starts for Triple-A Sacramento since he was activated from the 7-day injured list Saturday.

Advice: Harris spent just under a month on the shelf while recovering from the unspecified injury. He's hitting .301/.415/.496 with five home runs and three stolen bases across 135 plate appearances for Las Vegas on the season. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 11:43 am

  • On fire at Triple-A
Noel is slashing .402/.471/.705 with nine home runs and a 14.5-percent strikeout rate in his last 30 games for Triple-A Columbus.

Advice: With Kyle Manzardo failing to take a big-league job and run with it and Noel already being on the 40-man roster, Noel could get a shot as Cleveland's designated hitter sometime this summer. The righty-hitting slugger has huge raw power, and while he has seen 25 starts in the corner outfield spots this season, he's probably too big (6-foot-3, 250 pounds) to get regular starts in the outfield at the highest level. • Day off Wednesday
Walls is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Mariners, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: Walls had a rare big night offensively in Tuesday's 11-3 win over Seattle, going 3-for-4 with a triple, two RBI and a run scored. He'll begin Wednesday's game on the bench, enabling Jose Caballero to pick up a start at shortstop. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 6:52 am

  • Most productive game of season
Walls went 3-for-4 with a triple, two RBI and a run scored Tuesday against the Mariners.

Advice: Walls recorded just his second multi-hit game in 12 starts this season, and the performance brought his average to .175 on the campaign. Despite his struggles at the plate, Walls has made five consecutive starts at shortstop, all of which have come against right-handed pitchers. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 10:50 pm

  • Taylor Walls has three hits in win
Taylor Walls went 3-for-4 with a run and two RBI in a win over the Mariners on Tuesday.

Advice: Walls is now up to a robust .175/.277/.250 slash line since coming off the IL on June 7th. Still, the Rays continue to start him almost every game at shortstop due to his plus defense. Walls will likely never hit enough to be in fantasy lineups, but his presence in the Tampa Bay lineup will put a damper on the fantasy value of Brandon Lowe and Jose Caballero, who are splitting time at second base as a result.
