    • Vlad Jr. is getting a day off on Wednesday
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is not in the Blue Jays’ starting lineup on Wednesday against the Brewers.

Advice: It’s just a routine rest day for Guerrero, who has seen his batting average skyrocket over the last few weeks with plenty of hard contact. The home runs have not been there, and might not ever come back at the level we saw in the past given his launch angles, but there’s nothing to worry about here. Spencer Horwitz will lead off and play first base on Wednesday with Isiah Kiner-Falefa at second base and Ernie Clement starting at third. Rotoworld Today, 9:22 am
    • Receiving day off
Guerrero is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers.

Advice: With Daniel Vogelbach serving as Toronto's designated hitter and with Spencer Horwitz getting the nod at first base, Guerrero will hit the bench for the first time all season in what appears to be routine maintenance. Guerrero went hitless in nine at-bats over his first two games of the series to bring his batting average down to .282 for the season. Rotowire.com Today, 8:05 am
    • Logs steal in loss
Steer went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and an RBI in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to Cleveland.

Advice: Steer recorded his 12th steal in 65 games, putting him on pace to surpass the 15 he had over 156 games in 2023. Speed was not a hallmark to his game in the minors, but the running Reds have changed that. On an unrelated note, the team received news that first baseman Christian Encarnacion-Strand is mulling season-ending wrist surgery. That means Steer, who has been the primary fill-in for Encarnacion-Strand in recent weeks, may continue on as Cincinnati's regular at first base. Rotowire.com Today, 3:54 am

    • Two thefts in win
Rodriguez went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs scored in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the White Sox.

Advice: Rodriguez is 12-for-39 (.308) over his first 10 games in June, though he's also posted a 4:13 BB:K. He was able to make an impact on the basepaths Tuesday with his first steals since May 29. The star outfielder is now 16-for-20 in stolen bases while slashing .271/.318/.348 with five home runs, 25 RBI and 33 runs scored over 69 contests. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:13 pm
    • Julio Rodríguez steals two bases in win
Julio Rodríguez singled, stole two bases and scored two runs Tuesday against the White Sox.

Advice: Rodríguez gave the Mariners a scare on one of the steals, as he jammed his left knee on a hard slide into second. Fortunately he was able to walk it off afterwards. He now has 16 steals on the year, and while that hardly completely makes up for the disappointing numbers elsewhere, it has allowed him to maintain some usefulness in fantasy leagues. • Battling illness
Manager Bob Melvin said after Tuesday's game that Hicks has been sick for the past several days, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: While Hicks' illness didn't prevent him from starting Tuesday, it did play a factor in his removal after just 4.2 innings and caused his velocity to be down a tick. The 27-year-old righty allowed three earned runs on five hits and a walk while striking out five batters, and he was hit with his third loss of the year. Assuming he's able to shake off his illness, Hicks is lined up to start again on the road Monday against the Cubs. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:38 pm

    • Jordan Hicks lifted in fifth versus Astros
Jordan Hicks yielded three runs in 4 2/3 innings Tuesday in a loss to the Astros.

Advice: Hicks didn’t have his usual velocity tonight, averaging 93.0 mph with his sinker. That’s down 1.9 mph from his season average and 3.2 mph from his start six days ago. Last time this happened, it was blamed on an illness, and Hicks’ velocity returned to normal his next time out. We’ll have to wait and see what the reasoning is this time. • Corey Seager out Tuesday with hamstring injury
Corey Seager (hamstring) remains absent from the lineup for Tuesday’s series opener against the Dodgers.

Advice: This certainly qualifies as a surprise since Seager was expected to be ready to roll for Tuesday’s highly-anticipated showdown at Dodger Stadium after getting a couple games off to address some mild hamstring left soreness. The 30-year-old fantasy superstar will miss his fourth straight contest and remains day-to-day for the moment. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:54 pm

    • Still not starting Tuesday
Seager (hamstring) is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Dodgers.

Advice: Despite a team day off Monday, Seager's absence will extend to four games as he continues to nurse the hamstring strain he suffered Wednesday versus Detroit. Ezequiel Duran will take over at shortstop and bat seventh Tuesday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:44 pm
