• Fills in at first base
Candelario started at first base and went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to Arizona.

Advice: Candelario moved across the diamond from third base to cover first for Christian Encarnacion-Strand (hand), who is expected to miss four-to-six weeks. Candelario is one of several Cincinnati bats off to a slow start; the three-hit night raised his season average to .206, just the second day it's been above .200. Santiago Espinal took over for Candelario at third base. Rotowire.com Today, 7:44 pm
  • Mountcastle slugs two-run homer, Orioles win in 12
Ryan Mountcastle slugged a two-run homer in the 11th inning on Wednesday night, helping to propel the Orioles to a wild 7-6 victory over the Nationals in 12 innings.

Advice: With one out left to get in the ninth inning, the Orioles had a comfortable 3-1 lead, then insanity ensued. Neither team scored in the 10th inning, then Mountcastle clobbered a 386-foot (98.8 mph EV) two-run shot off of Hunter Harvey in the 11th that gave the O’s a two-run lead. The Nationals would answer in their half of the 11th. The O’s then pushed two runs across in the 12th and allowed just one to escape with a victory. Mountcastle finished the night 1-for-5 and is now hitting .277/.324/.485 with six long balls and 18 RBI on the year. Rotoworld Today, 7:42 pm

Lowe reached again with a walk in the eighth and scored on a single by Josh Smith before adding a third RBI with a single in the ninth. • Tyler Soderstrom slugs two-run homer vs. Rangers
Tyler Soderstrom went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer on Wednesday against the Rangers.

Advice: Soderstrom got the call to join Oakland for Wednesday’s doubleheader against Texas and made the most of his start. After knocking a base hit in the second inning, he took Jack Leiter deep for a two-run homer in the fourth. Soderstrom had an injury scare in the eighth after taking a pitch off his knee, but was able to stay in the game. He offers some power upside with catcher eligibility if he gets an extended look in the majors. Rotoworld Today, 7:17 pm

  • Isaac Paredes plates lone run in loss to White Sox
Isaac Paredes went 1-for-3 with a double and drove in the Rays’ lone run in Wednesday evening’s loss to the White Sox.

Advice: The hard-hitting 25-year-old infielder got the Rays on the board first with a run-scoring double off of Chris Flexen in the fourth inning. That would wind up being their only tally in the contest though. Paredes also drew a walk in the ballgame, reaching base safely in two of his four plate appearances. For the season, he’s now hitting .300/.387/.523 with eight homers and 20 RBI. Rotoworld Today, 7:07 pm

  • On bench for third straight game
Cave is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Giants.

Advice: Cave had started in right field in both of the Rockies' previous two matchups with right-handed pitchers, but he'll be on the bench Wednesday while Colorado opposes San Francisco righty Jordan Hicks. Sean Bouchard -- who started the previous two games when the Rockies opposed lefties -- will remain in right field for Wednesday's contest. Rotowire.com Today, 4:52 pm

  • Sitting Wednesday
Montero is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Giants.

Advice: Montero will exit the starting nine for the first time since April 21, when he sat out the front end of a doubleheader with the Mariners. His move to the bench comes while he's fallen into a 3-for-23 slump at the dish over his last six games, though the Rockies haven't signaled that Montero's standing atop the depth chart at first base is in any jeopardy. • Resting during Game 2
Nevin isn't in the Athletics' lineup for the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader versus the Rangers.

Advice: Nevin went 0-for-4 with a strikeout during Game 1, and he'll step out of the lineup for the nightcap. His absence will move Brent Rooker into right field while Shea Langeliers serves as Oakland's DH, allowing Kyle McCann to start behind the plate. Rotowire.com Today, 3:29 pm

Davis isn't in Oakland's lineup for the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Rangers.

Advice: Davis went 1-for-3 with a walk and scored twice during a 9-4 victory in Game 1, and he'll catch a breather to conclude Wednesday's activities. Tyler Soderstrom will start at first base instead while batting eighth. Rotowire.com Today, 3:24 pm
