• Oneil Cruz homers, drives in three in losing effort
Oneil Cruz went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer and three RBI on Monday in the Pirates’ lopsided defeat at the hands of the Reds.

Advice: Cruz was one of the few bright spots for Pittsburgh in this one as he drove in a run with a fifth-inning ground out before slugging a gargantuan 458-foot moonshot — his 11th big fly of the season — a couple frames later off Reds reliever Fernando Cruz. The 25-year-old shortstop has been scuffling at the dish in recent weeks, batting .216 (25-for-116) with four homers and three steals over his last 30 games. He’s also struck out a whopping 40 times during that span. The flashes of dynamic game-changing talent are still there on occasion, but Cruz remains a bit of a work in progress at the moment. • Bryan Reynolds pushes hit streak to 21 straight
Bryan Reynolds extended his hitting streak to 21 consecutive games on Monday in the Pirates’ loss to the Reds.

Advice: Reynolds went 2-for-4 with an RBI and also drew a walk, reaching base safely in three of his five plate appearances in a one-sided affair. The 29-year-old outfielder is batting .315 (39-for-124) with seven homers and one steal over his last 30 games. Rotoworld Monday, 7:18 pm
  • Vlad Jr. sends 10th home run to the moon
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went 3-for-4 with a double and three-run home run against the Red Sox on Monday night.

Advice: The home run was Guerrero Jr.’s 10th of the season. He hit a three-run shot 471 feet over the left field wall off Boston reliever Isaiah Campbell. It was Guerrero Jr.’s second consecutive game with a home run and third home run in his last four games. He’s hitting .286 with a .797 OPS and 36 RBI on the season.

  • Eloy Jiménez in lineup despite hamstring soreness
Eloy Jiménez is in the starting lineup as a DH on Monday after experiencing hamstring soreness in his return Sunday.

Advice: It’ll be a small miracle if Jiménez doesn’t wind up aggravating the hamstring bad enough to go back on the injured list, but we’ll see. He’s batting cleanup tonight. Rotoworld Monday, 2:14 pm

  • Will be in Monday's lineup
Jimenez (hamstring) will be in the lineup for Monday's contest against the Dodgers, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Advice: The White Sox haven't yet released their lineup for the series opener, but Jimenez has evidently received the green light to make a second consecutive start. Jimenez was noticeably gimpy while running the bases in Sunday's 11-2 loss to the Tigers in his first game back from a stint on the injured list due to a left hamstring strain. The apparent aggravation of the hamstring injury won't cause him to miss any starts, at least not yet. Certainly, Jimenez will remain a major injury risk as he attempts to play through some discomfort. Rotowire.com Monday, 11:11 am

  • Swipes sixth bag
Cruz went 0-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base Sunday against the Rays.

Advice: Cruz made plenty of highlights Saturday by blasting a home run into the Allegheny River, but he's slumped with only two hits across 19 at-bats during Pittsburgh's current homestand. He did manage to tally his sixth stolen base of the season Sunday, his first since returning from ankle soreness that caused him to miss games on June 14th and 15th. • Goes deep again Sunday
Guerrero went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and two runs scored in Sunday's 6-5 loss to the Guardians.

Advice: Guerrero launched a two-run home run in the top of first inning off Triston McKenzie, giving Toronto an early lead. He later singled and came around to score on a base knock by Addison Barger in the top of the fifth. The homer was his ninth of the season and second of the three-game series with Cleveland. Guerrero has now notched at least one hit in six of his last eight contests, batting .294 with two home runs, three RBI and four runs scored over that stretch. Rotowire.com Sunday, 9:00 pm
  • Bryan Reynolds goes 2-for-3, hits 12th homer
Bryan Reynolds went 2-for-3 with a homer that accounted for Pittsburgh’s only run and a walk Sunday against the Rays.

Advice: The homer left his bat at just 90 mph, but aided by some wind, it got over the wall at PNC Park. Reynolds’ hitting streak is now at 20 games, and it includes three homers in his last four games. Today’s performance pushed his OPS over .800 for the first time since mid-April. • Dealing with soreness
Jimenez experienced hamstring soreness in his return to the lineup in Sunday's 11-2 loss to the Tigers, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. He started at designated hitter and went 1-for-4 with a run scored.

Advice: Jimenez made his return from the 10-day injured list Sunday after missing a month with a left hamstring strain, and he now appears to be dealing with a potential setback. The White Sox are set to launch a three-game series at home versus the Dodgers on Monday, and the 27-year-old's status is worth monitoring leading up the 8:10 p.m. ET opening pitch.
