• Flaherty pitches well through back injury
Jack Flaherty threw five scoreless innings in a win over the Astros on Saturday, allowing three hits and striking out six.

Advice: Flaherty received an anti-inflammatory injection on Monday and had a few extra days of rest to combat a back injury, but he looked good overall on Saturday. His four-seam velocity was down 1.5 mph, so that’s something to keep an eye on, but he induced eight whiffs on 31 swings for a 26 percent whiff rate and 32 percent CSW. He needed just 73 pitches to get through five innings and sets up for a great spot next week against the White Sox. Rotoworld 33 minutes ago

  • Brenton Doyle scratched with knee issue Saturday
Brenton Doyle was scratched from the Rockies’ starting lineup on Saturday night due to left patella tendinitis.

Advice: The fact that he was in the team’s initial lineup before getting scratched bodes well for his availability moving forward. Doyle should be considered day-to-day. Michael Toglia will start in his place in right field and will bat sixth for the Rockies on Saturday night against Jared Jones and the Pirates. Rotoworld 45 minutes ago
  • Scratched from lineup
Doyle was scratched from Saturday's game against the Pirates with left patella tendinitis, Patrick Lyons of JustBaseball.com reports.

Advice: Doyle was slated to bat second and play center field Saturday but was removed form the starting lineup with left knee pain. Instead, Jake Cave will slide to center, Michael Toglia will play right, and Elehuris Montero will enter the lineup and play first base. Rotowire.com 45 minutes ago
  • Trea Turner (hamstring) might return on Sunday
Phillies manager Rob Thomson told reporters Trea Turner (hamstring) could potentially return on Sunday.

Advice: Turner continued running at full-speed on Saturday and could potentially be activated for Sunday’s series finale against the Orioles. It’s possible they’ll elect to wait until Monday’s series opener against the Padres, but it certainly appears that the 30-year-old superstar shortstop isn’t far off from returning for Philadelphia. • José Caballero (illness) not in Saturday’s lineup
José Caballero (illness) is not in the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Braves.

Advice: Caballero will get an extra day off to rest and recover following an early exit from Friday’s showdown due to illness. It’ll be Amed Rosario taking a turn at shortstop on Saturday afternoon in his absence. Rotoworld Today, 11:04 am

  • Absent from lineup
Caballero (illness) is not in the starting lineup Saturday versus Atlanta.

  • Secures sixth save
Diaz gave up a hit and struck out two in a scoreless ninth inning Friday to record his sixth save of the season in a 2-1 win over the Padres.

Advice: A leadoff single by Jurickson Profar and a stolen base by pinch runner Jose Azocar created another nervous ninth for the Mets, but Diaz buckled down after that and fanned Manny Machado and Jake Cronenworth to preserve the win. Diaz's velocity appears to be all the way back -- his fastest pitch Friday hit 100 mph -- and he's looked to be in just about peak form in two appearances since recovering from a shoulder impingement. The 30-year-old right-hander is just 6-for-10 in converting save chances in 2024, but as long as he's healthy he should be locked in as the Mets' closer. Rotowire.com Today, 7:52 am
  • Up to second in order
Doyle went 2-for-5 Friday against the Pirates.

Advice: Doyle has been productive across his last eight games, collecting nine hits across 32 at-bats while scoring five runs, driving in five and stealing four bases. He's also hit second in Colorado's lineup in four of the team's last six contests, and he stayed in that position even with Nolan Jones back in the lineup Friday. Rotowire.com Today, 7:13 am
  • Jack Flaherty starting Saturday against Astros
Jack Flaherty (back) will start on Saturday against the Astros.

Advice: As expected, Flaherty will take the ball this weekend against Houston’s high-powered offense after receiving a couple extra days of rest to address a back issue that cropped up during his previous start on June 4 against the Rangers. The 28-year-old righty has been magnificent this season in his Tigers debut and will aim to keep things rolling in this one. Rotoworld Today, 6:22 am
