• Strikes out nine in loss
Cease (5-4) was tagged with the loss Saturday, allowing four runs on eight hits over 6.2 innings against the Yankees. He struck out nine.

Advice: Cease got himself into trouble right out of the gate after surrendering a leadoff single to Anthony Volpe to open the contest, followed by a two-run shot off the bat of Aaron Judge two batters later. The right-hander would then go on to strike out five of the next seven batters he faced before giving up another two runs in the fourth. Cease has now allowed three or more runs in three consecutive starts, going 0-2 over that stretch. On a positive note, he's now recorded at least eight strikeouts in four of his last five outings and has posted a dynamite 42:6 K:BB in May. His 82 strikeouts on the campaign leave him sitting behind only Tyler Glasnow (87) for the league lead. Rotowire.com 11 minutes ago

  • Hurls six shutout frames
Stroman (4-2) picked up the win over the Padres on Saturday, allowing three hits and one walk over six shutout innings while striking out five.

Advice: Stroman actually allowed the leadoff man to reach in three of his first four innings of work but was able to pitch his way around it in each occasion to prevent any damage. The right-hander has now hurled three quality starts in a row and hasn't allowed more than three hits in four of his last five outings. Stroman carries a 1.78 ERA in May after Saturday's win and has won three of his last four decisions (spanning seven starts). Rotowire.com 21 minutes ago
  • Fans two in save
Clase picked up the save over the Angels on Saturday, allowing one hit over one inning while striking out two.

Advice: Clase entered the game with a one-run lead in the bottom of the ninth and surrendered a leadoff single to Logan O'Hoppe before retiring the next three batters in succession, with two of them going down on strikes. It marked his third appearance this month in which Clase registered multiple strikeouts and he's now converted each of his last three save opportunities. The right-hander now sits at 16 saves on the season, which ties him for the major league lead with Ryan Helsley. Rotowire.com 38 minutes ago
  • Fans eight in loss
Soriano (2-5) took the loss against the Guardians on Saturday, allowing four runs on four hits and one walk while striking out eight over six innings.

Advice: Soriano cruised through the first two frames before failing to retire three of the first five batters he faced in the third, eventually leading to four runs coming across for Cleveland. He would, however, surrender just one infield single over his final three innings of work while striking out five over that span. Soriano's eight strikeouts on the night marked a season high and he's now gone at least six innings in three of his last five starts. It also marked the first time in his last four starts that he didn't walk multiple batters. Rotowire.com 44 minutes ago

  • Picks up third win
Bibee (3-1) earned the win over the Angels on Saturday, allowing three runs on six hits and one walk over six innings while striking out six.

Advice: All of the damage against Bibee came in the bottom of the third when he allowed two of the first four batters to reach before surrendering a three-run blast to Taylor Ward. However, the right-hander was able to work his way out of trouble for the rest of the night while inducing 20 swings and misses. Bibee has now logged back-to-back quality starts and has given up three runs or fewer in six of his last eight outings. Saturday also marked his first win since April 21 against the Athletics (span of six starts). Rotowire.com 54 minutes ago
  • Blows second save
Kopech (1-4) blew the save and took the loss Saturday, giving up three runs on three hits in two-thirds of an inning as the White Sox fell 5-3 to the Orioles. He struck out one.

Advice: Chicago rolled into the eighth inning with a 3-0 lead, but after Jordan Leasure served up a two-run homer to Ryan O'Hearn, Kopech got the call and threw more gas on the fire, getting taken deep himself by Anthony Santander and Jordan Westburg. Kopech has been tagged for five home runs in 23.2 innings this season, fueling a 4.18 ERA, and his issues keeping the ball in the park have followed him to the bullpen. He'll continue to get the majority of the save chances for the White Sox, but his reliability as a high-leverage reliever is still in question. Rotowire.com Today, 4:52 am

  • Sharp in Saturday's quality start
Fedde came away with a no-decision in Saturday's 5-3 loss to Baltimore, allowing three hits and three walks over 6.1 innings. He struck out six.

Advice: The right-hander baffled the O's over 103 pitches (64 strikes) and left the mound with the White Sox ahead 3-0, only to see Jordan Leasure and Michael Kopech serve up three homers between them in the eighth inning. Fedde has delivered three scoreless outings in his last four starts, giving him five quality starts on the season, and he sports a stunning 2.80 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 58:18 K:BB through 64.1 innings -- a far cry from the 5.41 ERA and 1.52 WHIP he compiled in 454.1 innings for the Nationals prior to spending 2023 in the KBO. He'll look to keep rolling in his next start, which lines up to come on the road next weekend in Milwaukee. Rotowire.com Today, 4:47 am

  • Notches first save of season
Perez struck out one in a perfect ninth inning Saturday to record his first save of the season in a 5-3 win over the White Sox.

Advice: Craig Kimbrel, Danny Coulombe and Yennier Cano had all pitched both Thursday and Friday, leaving manager Brandon Hyde without any of his usual late-inning options when Baltimore took the lead in the eighth. Perez stepped up with a strong performance, needing only 10 pitches (six strikes) to retire the bottom of Chicago's order. The 28-year-old southpaw has an unsightly 5.06 ERA on the season, but he has yet to serve up a homer in 10.2 innings and has blanked the opposition in eight of his 11 appearances while picking up four holds. • Gets four outs, hold
Thompson allowed two hits and struck out one over 1.1 scoreless innings to earn a hold in Saturday's 3-2 win over Miami.

Advice: Thompson earned his seventh hold of the season, retiring four batters before letting Joe Mantiply shepherd the one-run lead to closer Paul Sewald. This was fourth time in the last six outings that Thompson worked more than one frame, and the right-hander hasn't allowed an earned run over the last 13 innings. Rotowire.com Today, 4:27 am
