    • Steals, scores in loss
Carroll went 1-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored in Monday's 5-4 extra-innings loss to Atlanta.

Advice: Carroll was part of the Diamondbacks' three-run sixth inning to grab the lead. He singled in a run, stole a base, then came home on a bases-loaded walk. The steal was his team-leading 16th. Carroll has moments where he can impact a game -- he had a leadoff home run Sunday -- but overall the outfielder continues to struggle at the dish. That two-week stretch early in June when Carroll had a .943 OPS has given way to a .521 stretch over the last 17 games. Rotowire.com Today, 4:13 am
    • Correa belts 12th home run in win Monday
Carlos Correa went 1-for-5 with a solo home run against the White Sox on Monday.

Advice: Correa’s home run was his 12th of the season. He hit a solo shot off Jordan Leasure in the seventh inning to give the Twins a 6-5 lead. Correa is hitting .303 with an .886 OPS and 46 RBI on the season.

    • Fires seven shutout frames
Abbott (9-6) allowed three hits and two walks over seven scoreless innings Monday, striking out eight and earning a win over the Rockies.

Advice: Abbott was dominant Monday, retiring nine straight batters to begin the game and allowing just two runners to reach scoring position. He forced a season-high 19 whiffs; eight of those came via the fastball while his sweeper caused another seven. Abbott has won four straight starts and seven of his last nine dating back to May 21. He's allowed three or fewer earned runs over his last seven outings, posting a 2.70 ERA during that span. Abbott will carry a 3.06 ERA into his next start, which is lined up to be at home against Miami. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:54 pm

    • Abbott tosses seven scoreless in win over Rockies
Andrew Abbott tossed seven shutout innings and got the win in the Reds’ 3-0 victory over the Rockies on Monday.

Advice: Abbott gave up three hits, walked two and struck out eight. The win was Abbott’s ninth of the year. He certainly pitched well against the Rockies on Monday, but this is still a pitcher with a 7.17 K/9, 3.32 BB/9, and 1.40 HR/9 that pitches half of his games in Cincinnati. He has a 3.06 ERA despite a 4.81 xFIP this year largely due to his 86 percent left on base percentage and .230 BABIP allowed. He has to regress at some point. The 25-year-old left-hander is set to face the Marlins at home this weekend.

    • Carlos Correa in lineup after finger injury
Carlos Correa is in Monday’s starting lineup after leaving Sunday’s game with a bruised finger.

Advice: Correa is starting at shortstop and batting second tonight against the White Sox. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:33 pm

    • Good to go Monday
Correa (finger) will start at shortstop and bat second in Monday's game against the White Sox.

Advice: Correa was lifted in the first inning of Sunday's 3-2 win over the Astros after he was hit on his right hand by a pitch in his lone at-bat of the day. Fortunately, X-rays cleared Correa of any structural damage, with the Twins labeling his injury as a finger contusion. The injury apparently isn't inhibiting Correa in batting practice Monday, so he'll be ready to go as the Twins kick off a six-game week to close out their pre-All-Star-break schedule. • Lars Nootbaar comes off the IL on Monday
Cardinals activated OF Lars Nootbaar (oblique) from the 10-day IL.

Advice: Nootbaar played 13 games on his rehab assignment, including five at Triple-A, where he went just 3-for-17. Injuries have hampered the potential breakout for Nootbaar this season, but he should return to an everyday role in center field with Michael Siani shifting back to the bench. Jose Fermin was sent to the minors in a corresponding move. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:16 am

    • Returns from 10-day injured list
The Cardinals activated Nootbaar (oblique) from the 10-day injured list Monday.

Advice: Nootbaar missed nearly six weeks of action with a strained oblique and is ready to return after going 6-for-23 with two home runs during a seven-game rehab assignment at Double-A Springfield. He should resume everyday duties in right field, resulting in Alec Burleson settling back in as St. Louis' designated hitter. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:13 am

    • Mashes leadoff home run
Carroll went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's win over the Padres.

Advice: Carroll led things off by taking Dylan Cease deep to right center to push the Diamondbacks ahead to an early 1-0 lead. It was his first home run since May 7 and his first RBI since June 18. Carroll is now up to three home runs for the year and is exhibiting a significant power decrease after blasting 25 long balls a season ago. The 23-year-old is now slashing .210/.297/.318 with 24 extra-base hits, 24 RBI, 54 runs and a 38:68 BB:K in 379 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:29 am
