      Maeda allowed two runs on six hits and a walk over 5.1 innings in a no-decision Friday. He struck out four during the loss to the Angels.

      Advice: Maeda was tagged with a two-run shot by Luis Rengifo in the first inning but settled in for a solid outing. In six starts since returning from the injured list, Maeda has registered a 4.71 ERA. That's helped lower his season mark to 5.76 alongside a 45:19 K:BB through 59.1 frames. Maeda hasn't earned a win since May 24 and hasn't finished at least six innings since May 1. He's in line for a road start against his former team, the Twins, next week.     • Kenta Maeda gets no-decision against Angels
      Kenta Maeda didn’t qualify for a decision after giving up two runs in 5 1/3 innings of work Friday against the Angels.

      Advice: Maeda scattered six hits with a walk and four strikeouts. The only scoring blow was a two-run homer by Luis Rengifo, but outside of that the 36-year-old was solid for the majority of the outing. There haven’t been enough of those thus far in 2024, as even with the solid outing his ERA sits at an unhealthy 5.76. A chance to lower that is scheduled for next Thursday against the Twins.     • Orioles place Corbin Burnes on paternity list
      Orioles placed RHP Corbin Burnes on the paternity list.

      Advice: All this meant is that the Orioles will benefit from having an extra reliever for the next two or three days. Burnes defeated the Rangers last night and isn’t slated to make his next start until Wednesday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:20 am

      Advice: Burnes will likely be away for the remainder of the series against the Rangers as he welcomes a new addition to the family.       Abbott (7-6) picked up the win over the Cardinals on Thursday, allowing two runs on two hits and six walks over five innings while striking out two.

      Advice: The only runs charged to Abbott on the night came on a two-run homer from Nolan Arenado in the bottom of the third, as the lefty managed to pitch his way out of trouble the rest of the time despite issuing a season-high six free passes. Abbott has now won four of his last five starts, though he finishes the month of June with 15 walks, compared to just six in May.     • Cakewalks to ninth win
      Burnes (9-3) earned the victory over Texas on Thursday, allowing one run on nine hits and no walks while striking out five batters over seven innings.

      Advice: The Orioles were up 3-0 after one inning and 6-0 after three, so Burnes didn't face much pressure in the outing. The right-hander did tie a season-worst mark in allowing nine hits, but only one of those -- a fourth-inning Adolis Garcia solo homer -- went for extra bases. Burnes recorded a quality start after snapping a 10-game streak of such performances in his previous outing. He's tied for the MLB lead in that category with 13 on the campaign and has posted excellent numbers in his first season as an Oriole with a 2.28 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 99:24 K:BB over 106.2 innings.     • Abbott allows two runs in win Thursday
      Andrew Abbott allowed two runs in five innings and got the win in the Reds’ 11-4 victory over the Cardinals on Thursday.



      Advice: Abbott gave up two hits, walked six and struck out two. Abbott wasn’t sharp as the six walks were a season-high, but the Reds scored 10 runs while he was in the game and he was able to grind out five innings to earn his seventh win of the season. Abbott has won four of his last five starts and has a 3.41 ERA on the year. The 25-year-old left-hander is set to face the Yankees on the road next week.

    • Burnes picks up ninth win in route Thursday
      Corbin Burnes allowed one run in seven innings and got the win in the Orioles’ 11-2 victory over the Rangers on Monday.



      Advice: Burnes gave up nine hits, walked none and struck out five. The win was his ninth of the year. Burnes was on cruise control in this one. Despite the nine hits, he allowed just one run on a solo home run off the bat of Adolis Garcia. Burnes lowered his ERA to 2.28 in the process. The 29-year-old right-hander is set to face the Mariners on the road next week.

    • Kyle Harrison will throw a bullpen on Friday
      According to the San Francisco Chronicle’s Shayna Rubin, Kyle Harrison (ankle) will throw a bullpen on Friday.

      Advice: Harrison was placed on the IL on July 16th, so the Giants could choose to activate him without needing a rehab assignment if the bullpen session goes well. We should find out more information later on Friday. Rotoworld Thursday, 11:30 am
