  • Gets three-game ban, will appeal
    Siri (thigh) received a three-game suspension Wednesday for his role in a benches-clearing brawl Tuesday in the Rays' 8-2 loss to the Brewers, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports. He will appeal the suspension and is available off the bench for Wednesday's series finale in Milwaukee.

    Advice: In addition to Milwaukee manager Pat Murphy receiving a two-game ban, three players [Siri and Brewers right-handers Abner Uribe (six games) and Freddy Peralta (five games)] were suspended for their roles in Tuesday's brawl. Uribe's punishment is the most severe since he's considered to have incited the incident in the eighth inning, when he threw a punch at Siri after the two players first started arguing when Siri was running to first base on a groundout. In his prior plate appearance in the sixth inning, Siri was hit by a pitch in the left thigh, and he'll be held out of the lineup Wednesday after Rays manager Kevin Cash said the outfielder was still dealing with some soreness. After a team off day Thursday, Siri should be ready to go for this weekend's series with the Mets, if he hasn't dropped his appeal by then or if the appeal process hasn't been completed.     Peralta was suspended five games by Major League Baseball on Wednesday for intentionally throwing at the Rays' Jose Siri in Tuesday's 8-2 win, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. He'll appeal the suspension.

    Advice: The right-handed was ejected from Tuesday's contest after the umpiring crew concluded that Peralta threw at Siri intentionally one plate appearance after Siri had hit a home run. Since Peralta is appealing the suspension, he should be able to make his next scheduled start on Sunday against the Cubs, if the appeal process isn't completed before then.     Uribe received a six-game suspension Wednesday for his role in a benches-clearing brawl Tuesday in the Brewers' 8-2 win over the Rays, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. He has appealed the suspension and will be available for Wednesday's series finale versus Tampa Bay.

    Advice: Funderbunk will head down to the minors in what seems to be somewhat of a surprising move given his results in the big leagues. In his 11 appearances with the Twins this season, the 27-year-old southpaw has posted a 3.38 ERA, 1.28 WHIP with a 15/5 K/BB ratio across 13 1/3 innings.
