    Fairchild batted leadoff and went 1-for-2 with a walk, a stolen base, an RBI and a run scored in Saturday's 7-5 loss to the Cubs.

    Advice: The Reds haven't faced a left-handed starter the previous six games, which meant Fairchild was limited to pinch-hit roles over the last week. He singled in a run in the second inning and later stole his sixth base. Fairchild was eventually pinch hit for by Will Benson in the sixth inning when the Cubs brought a right-hander into the game.   • Set to rejoin rotation Sunday
    Carrasco (neck) is expected to be reinstated from the 15-day injured list to start Sunday's game against the Nationals at Progressive Field, SI.com reports.

    Advice: He'll be taking back his rotation spot from right-hander Xzavion Curry, who was optioned to Triple-A Columbus earlier in the weekend. After being deactivated May 21 due to acute neck spasms, Carrasco will end up spending the minimum amount of time on the IL, and even though he didn't require a minor-league rehab assignment while he was on the shelf, he's not expected to face any major restrictions with his pitch count Sunday. That being said, the 37-year-old right-hander hasn't been a roster-worthy fantasy option in the majority of leagues this season, going 2-4 with a 5.16 ERA, 4.16 WHIP and 34:18 K:BB in 45.1 innings over his nine starts. While that's a dip from the .288 figure he recorded last season, he's sitting with an identical .796 OPS so far, thanks to an early power surge. Greene has blasted 10 home runs across 57 games after going deep only 11 times in 99 games last year.     Baez went 0-for-3 with a strikeout in Saturday's 6-3 loss to the Red Sox, dropping his season batting average to .190.

    Advice: It looked like Baez was maybe turning things around when he recorded seven hits across two games on May 17 and 18. However, he's gone just 4-for-33 in nine games since then, and he's hitless over his last three contests. The shortstop's .190 average would be his worst since he batted .169 across 52 games as a 21-year-old rookie back in 2014.     Advice: Leiter pitched a clean top of the eighth inning in a 5-5 tie, then moved into position for the win when the Cubs scored twice in the bottom half of the frame. The righty surpassed last season's win total in the process, and he's been about equally effective in the ERA department, as he's sitting with a 3.52 mark so far this year compared to 3.50 in 2023. Leiter is missing more bats, however, as his K/9 is up to 12.1 from 10.8 last season. His FIP is also down to 2.05 from 3.76 last season, suggesting his current ERA may trend downward.     Advice: Grichuk, in the starting lineup as normal against a left-hander, made an immediate impact by gunning down Francisco Lindor trying to stretch a single to a double in the bottom of the first inning. He later walked ahead of Christian Walker's third-inning grand slam and singled in a run in the seventh inning.
