• Transferred to 60-day IL
The Yankees transferred Burdi (hip) to the 60-day injured list Sunday.

Advice: Burdi's move to the 60-day injured list is to make room on the 40-man roster for J.D. Davis, who the Yankees acquired from the Athletics on Sunday. Burdi was placed on the 15-day injured list May 24 due to right hip inflammation. He received a platet-rich injection for the injury June 2, but he hasn't been cleared to start throwing. Burdi appeared in 12 games before landing on the injured list, registering a 1.86 ERA and 1.45 WHIP over 9.2 innings. Rotowire.com 9 minutes ago

  • Moving back into rotation
Turnbull is scheduled to join the rotation and start Wednesday against the Tigers in Detroit, Lochlahn March of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Advice: He'll be taking over the rotation spot that previously belonged to Taijuan Walker, who was placed on the 15-day injured list with right index finger inflammation after developing what manager Rob Thomson termed as a "hot spot" on his pitching hand. Though an injury of this sort wouldn't seem to portend a lengthy absence for Walker, Turnbull could end up sticking around as the Phillies' No. 5 starter once Walker is healthy, so long as Turnbull comes close to recapturing the excellent form he displayed a starter earlier this season. The Phillies have stated that they plan to monitor Turnbull's workload this season after he missed all of 2022 while recovering from Tommy John surgery and a large portion of 2023 due to neck discomfort, but the 31-year-old right-hander has made it difficult for the club to stick to that plan while he's performed so-so as a reliever (4.26 ERA, 14.1 K-BB% in 10 appearances) but exceptionally in his six starts (1.67 ERA, 20.5 K-BB%). His upcoming start against his former Tigers club will be his first since April 30, but Turnbull worked three scoreless innings (49 pitches) in his most recent relief outing Friday and is being targeted for around 70 pitches Wednesday, per Thomson. • Back in Pittsburgh
The Pirates recalled Bruihl from Triple-A Indianapolis on Sunday, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports.

Advice: With David Bednar (oblique) headed for the injured list, Bruihl will be called upon to fill the open spot in Pittsburgh's bullpen. The 26-year-old southpaw has given up four earned runs in 5.1 big-league innings this season, though he owns a 2.22 ERA and 1.07 WHIP through 24.1 frames in the minors. He'll be used in middle relief while with the Pirates. Rotowire.com 50 minutes ago
  • Yankees transfer Nick Burdi to 60-day IL
Yankees transferred RHP Nick Burdi to the 60-day injured list.

Advice: The procedural move opens up a spot on New York’s 40-man roster for newly-acquired infielder J.D. Davis. The 31-year-old righty has been on the shelf since late May due to right hip inflammation. Rotoworld 52 minutes ago

  • Placed on IL
The Pirates placed Bednar on the 15-day injured list Sunday with a strained left oblique, retroactive to Thursday, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Bednar reported feeling tightness in his side during his throwing session before Saturday's game and wasn't available to pitch in the game. His injury was initially believed to be relatively minor, so it's possible the 29-year-old reliever will be able to return after a minimum-length stay on the IL. Until then, Aroldis Chapman will likely see the majority of save opportunities, and Justin Bruihl will come up from Triple-A to replenish the Pirates' bullpen depth. Rotowire.com 56 minutes ago

  • Gets hybrid elbow surgery
The season-ending elbow surgery that Miley underwent May 7 in Cincinnati was a hybrid procedure designed to accelerate the left-hander's recovery timeline compared to the typical Tommy John surgery, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Miley's surgery was overseen by Dr. Timothy Kremchek, who previously performed the same hybrid procedure on the veteran southpaw's former teammate, Justin Wilson, in 2022. Kremchek relayed that he was "super happy" with how Miley's UCL procedure went, creating optimism that the 37-year-old could make a full recovery in as few as 10-to-12 months, compared to the 12-to-18-month recovery timeline that Tommy John surgery typically entails. The elbow surgery was the first of Miley's career, though he acknowledged that the ligament damage in his pitching arm had been bothering him for years. Though Miley is hopeful to resume throwing bullpen sessions and facing hitters by next spring before making his 2025 debut at some point in late April or early May, it's unclear if he'll be doing so in a Brewers uniform. His contract contains a $12 million mutual option and $1.5 million buyout for 2025. Rotowire.com Today, 10:22 am

  • Completes third rehab outing
Hall (knee) struck out one and allowed one hit and two walks over 1.1 innings in his latest rehab outing Thursday with Triple-A Nashville.

Advice: Hall has now made three starts for Nashville since resuming his rehab assignment June 13, but he has yet to cover more than two innings or throw more than 36 pitches in any of those outings. His usage would seem to hint that the Brewers envision Hall filling a multi-inning relief role upon his return from the 60-day injured list, after he struggled through four starts with Milwaukee (7.71 ERA, 2.27 WHIP in 16.1 innings) before being shut down April 21 with a left knee sprain. • Getting Tommy John surgery
Gasser is scheduled to undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery Monday in Dallas, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The Brewers previously disclosed Thursday that Gasser was headed for elbow surgery, but the team didn't immediately what type of procedure the rookie left-hander was undergoing. However, after recently receiving a third opinion on the left flexor strain in his elbow from Dr. Keith Meister -- who will perform the operation Monday -- Gasser was recommended for Tommy John surgery rather than an internal brace procedure. Gasser will likely require anywhere from 12-to-18 months to make a full recovery from Tommy John surgery, meaning it's possible that he's not available to pitch at all during the 2025 season. • Back with big club
Oakland selected Brooks' contract from Triple-A Las Vegas on Sunday.

Advice: After being DFA'd by the Athletics on June 2, Brooks was outrighted to Las Vegas two days later after clearing waivers. He's gone 1-1 in his two starts since returning to Triple-A, allowing five runs (three earned) on 11 hits and one walk while striking out eight over nine innings. Brooks' return to the majors corresponds with Dany Jimenez (oblique) heading to the injured list. Rotowire.com Today, 9:59 am
