• Activated off IL
The Guardians activated Morgan (elbow) from the 15-day injured list Saturday.

Advice: Morgan will return from his second IL stint this season after recovering from right elbow inflammation. He made two rehab appearances in Triple-A, allowing one run on two hits and a walk over 1.2 innings. To make room for Morgan on the 26-man roster, Darren McCaughan was optioned to Triple-A Columbus. • Guardians activate Eli Morgan for Saturday return
Guardians activated RHP Eli Morgan from the 15-day injured list.

Advice: Morgan returns to Cleveland’s high-leverage mix after missing nearly four weeks due to right elbow inflammation. The 28-year-old righty, who also missed time earlier this year with a shoulder issue, boasts a 1.64 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 7/5 K/BB ratio across 11 innings (10 appearances) this season. • Dakota Hudson gives up five runs to White Sox
Dakota Hudson yielded five runs in five innings Friday in a loss to the White Sox.

Advice: Pitching on the road against the White Sox is pretty much the easiest assignment Hudson is going to get as a member of the Rockies, but he messed it up by walking five and hitting a batter. He’s now 2-11 with a 5.84 ERA, and the Rockies might weigh moving on from him after the break. Rotoworld Friday, 9:35 pm

  • Handed tough-luck loss
Montas (3-6) allowed a run on two hits and three walks over six innings Friday, striking out five and taking a loss against St. Louis.

Advice: Montas gave up an RBI sacrifice fly to Alec Burleson in the third inning but otherwise didn't face too much trouble. However, the Reds were shut out by the Cardinals and Montas was stuck with the loss. He generated 17 whiffs, his second-highest total of the year. He's produced back-to-back quality starts and has three in five outings this month. Montas lowered his season ERA to 4.23 with a 58:30 K:BB through 72.1 innings. His next start is projected to be on the road against the Yankees. Rotowire.com Friday, 9:11 pm

  • Andre Pallante combines on shutout of Reds
Andre Pallante pitched 5 1/3 innings and combined with four relievers on a 1-0 shutout of the Reds on Friday.

Advice: Pallante allowed four hits and walked three, but the Reds couldn’t push a run across against him or anyone else. It’s the third time in his six starts that he’s gone without allowing a run. He’s given up 12 earned runs over 11 2/3 innings in those remaining three starts, but he’s shown enough to stick in the rotation for now. Rotoworld Friday, 8:55 pm

  • Frankie Montas takes tough loss in 1-0 game
Frankie Montas limited the Cardinals to one run and two hits over six innings in a losing cause Friday.

Advice: Montas wasn’t as strong as the line suggests; he allowed nine hard-hit balls and two would have been homers had this been a home game. Since it was played in St. Louis instead, Nolan Gorman had a flyout on a ball that was a homer in 24 parks and Michael Siani settled for a double on a shot that was a homer in 12 parks. • Struggles with command in loss
Hudson (2-11) took the loss Friday versus the White Sox, allowing five runs on six hits and five walks over five innings. He struck out three.

Advice: The Colorado righty failed to find the strike zone, as his five free passes matched a season worst previously matched April 13 and June 16. Hudson finishes off a poor June, during which he made five starts, going 0-4 with a 7.77 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 13:14 K:BB across 24.1 innings. Things don't get much easier for him, as he's currently scheduled to face the Brewers -- a team collectively sporting a 113 wRC+ against righties -- at home in his next outing. • Moves to 4-3
Pallante (4-3) allowed four hits and three walks over 5.1 shutout frames Friday, striking out five and earning a win over Cincinnati.

Advice: Pallante worked around a few jams to keep the Reds off the board. The Cardinals would go on to win 1-0, so his scoreless performance was much-needed. Since moving into the starting rotation, Pallante has produced a 3.86 ERA with a 25:13 K:BB in six starts. His season ERA dropped to 4.50 through 38 innings. Pallante's next start is currently lined up to be in Pittsburgh. Rotowire.com Friday, 8:49 pm

  • Surrenders six runs in loss
Perez (1-4) took the loss Friday versus Atlanta, allowing six runs on eight hits and two walks over four innings with four strikeouts.

Advice: The 33-year-old veteran looked rusty in his return from the injured list after leaving a May 26 start -- coincidentally, also against Atlanta -- with a groin injury. Perez managed to last 92 pitches and found the strike zone with only 39.1 percent of them, down significantly from his previous season average of 54.8 percent. The Pittsburgh southpaw's ERA now stands at 5.28 across 61.1 innings. He looks to bounce back in his next start, currently scheduled to come against the Cardinals at home.
