  • Two doubles, four RBI off the bench
    Lindor went 2-for-3 with a pair of two-run doubles and a run scored in Thursday's 7-6 extra-innings win over the Cubs.

    Advice: Lindor was held out of the lineup Thursday after departing Wednesday's contest with an illness. However, he'd come off the bench as a pinch hitter for Joey Wendle in the sixth inning, pulling a two-run double to cut the Mets' deficit to 5-4. Lindor would then deliver his biggest hit so far this season in the 11th, doubling down the left-field line to drive in two more and give New York a 7-6 walk-off victory. Lindor's struggles early this year have been well documented, though he's starting to show signs of turning things around at the plate -- the 30-year-old shortstop's gone 9-for-29 with three doubles and three home runs in his last eight contests.   • Christopher Morel swats three-run homer in loss
    Christopher Morel connected on a three-run homer Thursday in an extra-inning loss to the Mets.

    Advice: Morel extended the Cubs’ lead to 4-0 in the fifth with a three-run blast off Adrian Houser. The second-year infielder has gone deep five times, and he’s now up to 17 RBI over Chicago’s 32 games.   • Francisco Lindor hits game-winning double vs. Cubs
    Francisco Lindor drove in four runs off the bench including a game-winning two-run double in the 10th to give the Mets a 7-6 win over the Cubs on Thursday.

    Advice: Lindor didn’t start Thursday’s game, but he finished it literally and figuratively. The shortstop doubled home a pair of runs in the sixth, and in the 10th, he turned a 6-5 deficit into a 7-6 victory when he plated a pair with a two-bagger in the 10th to give the Mets the win. It’s one of the best games of the season for Lindor, as even with the strong outing he’s slashing a disappointing .207/.287/.380 in the first month-plus.   • Jorge Matero homers, plates two against Yankees
    Jorge Mateo went 1-for-2 with a homer and two RBI against the Yankees on Thursday.

    Advice: Mateo took Carlos Rodón deep — one of three homers the Orioles hit against the southpaw Thursday — and he now is the proud owner of his first homer of 2024. He also drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the fifth.   • Ryan Mountcastle’s homer helps O’s beat Yankees
    Ryan Mountcastle went 2-for-4 with a solo homer in a 7-2 win for the Orioles over the Yankees on Thursday.

    Advice: Mountcastle tied the game at 1-1 with his solo homer off Carlos Rodón in the third inning. That’s the fifth homer of the year, and his RBI single in the fifth brings that total to 16.     Advice: Bell tied the game at 3-3 with a solo homer off Peter Lambert. The 31-year-old has gone deep four times in the first 33 games of action for the Marlins while registering a .579 OPS.
