  • Ohtani homers, pushes RBI streak to nine games
    Shohei Ohtani went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Tuesday’s win over the White Sox.



    Advice: Chris Flexen’s fifth pitch of the night turned into a 400-foot homer by Ohtani to kick off the first inning. Ohtani’s homer extended his RBI streak to nine games, which ties the Dodgers’ single-season record.   • Collects 10th save
    Scott earned the save in Tuesday's 2-1 victory against Kansas City, pitching a scoreless inning while allowing one hit.

    Advice: Scott worked around a single yielded to Salvador Perez and subsequent pinch-run stolen base by Dairon Blanco to secure double-digit saves for the third consecutive season. The left-handed closer has been especially stingy since May 1, producing a 0.84 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 23:10 K:BB across 21.1 innings.   • Tanner Scott picks up 10th save vs. Royals
    Tanner Scott pitched a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save on Tuesday against the Royals.

    Advice: Scott allowed a one-out single to Salvador Perez in the ninth but went on to retire the next two batters he faced. The veteran lefty now has 10 saves on the season and lowered his ERA to 1.59 on the season.   • Takes no-decision Monday
    Lorenzen allowed two runs on five hits and one walk while striking out five batters over five-plus innings in a no-decision against Milwaukee on Monday.

    Advice: Lorenzen fared relatively well in the outing, though he was pulled after allowing a leadoff double in the sixth inning having racked up 91 pitches. It was a relatively rare occurrence for the right-hander to get the hook that early -- coming into Monday, he had completed at least six frames in 10 of his 12 starts. Beyond eating up innings, Lorenzen has pitched quite effectively throughout the campaign, accumulating a 3.04 ERA and 1.16 WHIP despite a mediocre 55:31 K:BB through 77 frames.   • Serves up three long balls in loss
    Munoz (1-3) took the loss against Kansas City on Monday, allowing four runs on six hits and four walks while striking out four batters over six innings.

    Advice: Munoz's command wasn't on point Monday, as he tied a season high with four free passes while serving up three home runs. It was the second straight start in which the right-hander surrendered three long balls, and he's given up multiple homers in five of his seven outings overall on the season.   • Good start goes to waste
    Steele allowed two runs on six hits and a walk while striking out nine over 7.1 innings in a no-decision versus the Giants on Monday.

    Advice: The downside to Steele's outing was that two of the hits on his line were solo home runs from Matt Chapman and Nick Ahmed. The southpaw hadn't given up a homer in any of his last five starts, and the Giants were able to continue their comeback push against the Cubs' bullpen to deny Steele his first win of the year. Despite the lack of positive results, he's logged five quality starts in 11 outings with a 3.08 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 65:16 K:BB over 64.1 innings.   • Cubs bullpen can’t hold lead for Justin Steele
    Justin Steele was denied a win yet again after allowing two runs in 7 1/3 innings Monday against the Giants.

    Advice: Steele struck out a season-high and departed with a 4-2 lead, but it failed to hold up. The result left Steele winless through 11 starts this season, even though he’s turned in quality starts in five of his last six outings. He’s 0-3 with a 3.08 ERA. Rotoworld Monday, 10:50 pm
     
  • Michael Lorenzen solid for five against Brewers
    Michael Lorenzen yielded two runs in five-plus innings Monday in a no-decision versus the Brewers.

    Advice: Lorenzen and Freddy Peralta pitched to a stalemate in this one. Lorenzen struck out five and walked one while throwing 91 pitches. It’s the seventh straight start in which he’s allowed three runs or fewer, and while he didn’t go deep tonight, he’s completed six innings in five of those outing and 10 of 13 starts for the year.   • Ohtani walks, hits sac fly in win over White Sox
    Shohei Ohtani went 0-for-3 with a walk and an RBI against the White Sox on Monday.

    Advice: It was a quiet game for the Dodgers offense against White Sox starter Garrett Crochet. Ohtani hit a sacrifice fly in the ninth inning to give Los Angeles a 3-0 lead. It was his 58th RBI on the season. He trails only Braves outfielder Marcell Ozuna for the National League lead in RBI. Ohtani is hitting .318 with a 1.021 OPS on the season. Rotoworld Monday, 8:24 pm
