• Fans seven in no-decision
Assad allowed one run on five hits and two walks while striking out seven batters over five innings in a no-decision against San Francisco on Monday.

Advice: Assad needed 92 pitches to get through five frames, but he was effective during his time on the mound, limiting the Giants to just a fourth-inning run. However, the right-hander couldn't pick up his first win since mid-May, as Chicago's offense wasn't able to push across a run until after his departure. Nonetheless, this was a nice bounce-back for Assad after he surrendered seven earned runs over 10.1 frames across his previous two outings. Rotowire.com 12 minutes ago

  • Returning to mound
Anderson (elbow) will pitch in a Florida Complex League game Tuesday, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Anderson has been working his way back from the Tommy John surgery he underwent in April 2023 and Tuesday's outing will be his first in the recovery process. The right-hander will likely need to build up his workload over a series of weeks, including a multi-start rehab assignment before he'd be able to be activated from the minor-league 60-day injured list, but Tuesday is a welcomed sign nonetheless. • Hurls quality start Monday
Garrett allowed one run in six innings, he gave up five hits and struck out six in a no-decision versus the Cardinals on Monday.

Advice: Garrett served up a solo homer to Michael Siani in the fifth that turned out to be his only mistake in an otherwise stellar showing. He also didn't allow a walk in his six innings of work, making it the fourth time in his seven starts this season that he didn't allow a free pass. The 26-year-old has been inconsistent this season, as he has allowed 22 runs in four of his starts but has only given up two runs in his other three appearances.  Rotowire.com 38 minutes ago

  • Wild but effective Monday
Hicks allowed four hits and four walks while striking out four batters over five scoreless innings in a no-decision against the Cubs on Monday.

Advice: Hicks recently battled an illness but was able to take his regular turn in the rotation Monday. He threw only 48 of 87 pitches for strikes and tied a season high in issuing four free passes, but he was able to work around constant traffic on the basepaths to finish with five scoreless frames. It was the first time Hicks has held an opponent scoreless since his season debut against San Diego on March 30, though he's been quite reliable in yielding three or fewer earned runs in all but one of his 15 outings. The right-hander holds a 2.82 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 68:28 K:BB through 76.2 innings on the season. Rotowire.com 41 minutes ago

  • James Paxton goes seven strong to win at Coors
James Paxton limited the Rockies to one run and two hits in seven innings to win at Coors Field on Monday.

Advice: It’s difficult to predict Paxton’s performances this season. He looked done 10 days ago after giving up seven runs and getting pulled in the second versus the Pirates, but he’s since bounced back by allowing two runs and four hits in 13 innings in his last two starts. The Yoshinobu Yamamoto injury took the idea of stashing Paxton on the IL off the board for the Dodgers. He still doesn’t seem like a great bet at this point, but he is a streaming option while pitching for one of baseball’s best teams. Rotoworld 51 minutes ago

  • Cal Quantrill surrenders three runs in loss
Cal Quantrill lost to the Dodgers after allowing three runs in five innings on Monday.

Advice: This could and probably should have been worse, given that Quantrill allowed seven hits and walked three, but it goes as a pretty routine loss. Quantrill dropped to 6-5 with a 3.43 ERA. The sooner the Rockies trade him, the better the return will be. Rotoworld 51 minutes ago

  • Solid effort ends in no-decision
Gray allowed two runs on five hits and two walks over 7.2 innings in Monday's 7-6 win versus the Marlins. He struck out four and didn't factor in the decision.

Advice: Gray pitched into the eighth inning for the first time this season and left the game up 4-1, but the bullpen couldn't hold the lead. The four strikeouts were a season low for Gray as he worked fast and efficiently, only needing 84 pitches to record 23 outs. The veteran's ERA now sits at 2.95 with a 1.02 WHIP through 13 starts. • Cruises to easy win
Peterson allowed two runs on four hits and three walks over six innings Monday, striking out six and earning a win over the Rangers.

Advice: Peterson delivered a quality start as the Mets piled on 14 runs of support in the victory. He's earned three straight wins and has produced a quality start in two of his first four outings this season. He dropped his ERA to 3.97 with a 12:8 K:BB through 22.2 innings. Peterson also generated a season-high 11 whiffs, including six with his fastball. His next start is expected to be on the road against the Cubs. Rotowire.com Today, 8:29 pm

  • Crushed in short outing
Gray (2-3) allowed nine runs on 11 hits in three-plus innings Monday, striking out two and taking a loss against the Mets.

Advice: Gray never found his footing Monday and the Mets took advantage. Most of the damage came during a six-run second inning and his night was finished after allowing a two-run shot to Brandon Nimmo in the fourth. Gray had allowed nine earned runs over his previous 50 innings before Monday's brutal outing. His season ERA shot up from 2.17 to 3.31 as a result. Gray's next outing is projected to be in Milwaukee.
