• Not facing lefty
Lux is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Angels.

Advice: With the Dodgers facing a lefty for the second straight night, Lux will once again be held from the starting lineup. Instead, Chris Taylor will bat eighth and play second base. Rotowire.com Today, 3:10 pm

  • Wilyer Abreu (ankle) will be activated on Saturday
Wilyer Abreu (ankle) will be activated from the injured list prior to Saturday’s game against the Reds.

Advice: The 24-year-old outfielder rejoined the team on Friday, but since he wasn’t going to start against left-hander Andrew Abbott anyways, the Red Sox are waiting an additional day to officially activate him from the injured list. He’ll return to a .272/.344/.485 slash line with six homers, 22 RBI and seven stolen bases through his first 53 games on the season. Rotoworld Today, 3:06 pm

  • Lands on IL with strained hamstring
The Rockies placed Blackmon on the 10-day injured list Friday, retroactive to June 19, due to a right hamstring strain.

Advice: Blackmon has missed the last three games after injuring his hamstring Tuesday against the Dodgers. Prior to the injury, Blackmon was slashing .333/.397/.509 with 10 runs, seven doubles and two RBI over 57 at-bats in June. In Blackmon's absence, Jake Cave and Sean Bouchard are likely to form a platoon in right field. Rotowire.com Today, 3:05 pm

  • Taking seat Friday
Buxton is out of the lineup for Friday's game against Oakland.

Advice: After making three straight starts in center field, Buxton will get the night off Friday. Austin Martin will start in center and bat ninth. Rotowire.com Today, 2:55 pm

  • Idle Friday
Kepler (neck) isn't part of the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Athletics.

Advice: Kepler was removed from Thursday's game with neck spasms and isn't expected to hit the injured list, but he'll still be held out of Friday's contest. Instead, Manuel Margo will bat seventh and play right field for Friday's series opener. Rotowire.com Today, 2:53 pm

  • Kerry Carpenter (back) to start baseball activity
Kerry Carpenter (back) told reporters on Friday that he has been cleared to start baseball activities on Monday.

Advice: The 26-year-old slugger will need at least a couple of weeks to ramp back up and will require a minor league rehab assignment before he’s ready to return to the Tigers’ lineup. If all goes well and he’s able to avoid any setbacks, we could see him back in the Olde English D right after the All-Star break. Before landing on the injured list, Carpenter was hitting .283/.342/.572 with eight homers and 29 RBI in his first 50 ballgames. Rotoworld Today, 2:36 pm

  • J.D. Martinez homers, drives in four in rout
J.D. Martinez delivered a three-run homer and an RBI single Friday as the Mets torched the Cubs 11-1.

Advice: Martinez is 11-for-27 with four homers, three doubles and 12 RBI in his last eight games. His current .870 OPS is practically a match for his career mark of .873, but it’s especially impressive given the current conditions, especially for a Mets hitter. Unfortunately, he’s probably going to lose his streak of five straight All-Star appearances, unless maybe the NL carries a third DH alongside Shohei Ohtani and Marcell Ozuna. • Brandon Nimmo hits third homer in four games
Brandon Nimmo went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer, a walk and three runs scored versus the Cubs on Friday.

Advice: This has turned into quite a hot streak. Nimmo has three homers in four games, and he’s 14-for-29 in his last seven games, raising his season OPS from .708 to .783. Rotoworld Today, 2:35 pm

  • Max Kepler (neck) remains out of lineup on Friday
Max Kepler (neck) remains out of the Twins’ starting lineup for Friday night’s tilt against the Athletics in Oakland.

Advice: Kepler was pulled from Thursday’s contest due to neck spasms. He isn’t expected to require a trip to the injured list, but with southpaws on tap for Saturday and Sunday, it’s unlikely that we see Kepler return to the Twins’ lineup until early next week. Manuel Margot will start in right field on Friday night and will bat seventh against Joey Estes and the A’s. Rotoworld Today, 2:29 pm
