  • Sanchez strikes out eight in no-decision
    Christopher Sanchez allowed two earned runs and struck out eight and got a no-decision in the Phillies’ 4-3 victory over the Nationals on Saturday.



    Advice: It was Sanchez’ third start with at least eight strikeouts in nine tries this season. He lowered his ERA to 3.31 on the season, but still only has two wins. The 27-year-old left-hander is scheduled to face the Rockies at Coors Field next weekend.

  • Gore strikes out three in no-decision
    MacKenzie Gore allowed two earned runs and struck out three in 6 ⅓ innings and got a no-decision against the Phillies on Saturday.



    Advice: Gore hasn’t allowed more than three earned runs in a start all season, but he only has two wins to show for it. He lowered his ERA to 3.30 with this outing. The 25-year-old left-hander gets a better matchup in his next game as he’s scheduled to face the Mariners at home next weekend.

    Cleavinger struck out one in a perfect ninth inning Saturday to record his third save of the season in a 5-4 win over the Blue Jays.

    Advice: Pete Fairbanks had pitched three of the prior four days and Jason Adam worked the eighth inning Saturday to collect his 10th hold, so closing duties fell to Cleavinger. The southpaw didn't disappoint, firing 11 of 14 pitches for strikes as he dispatched Toronto's 8-9-1 hitters. Cleavinger is the top lefty in the Tampa Bay bullpen, which will likely lead to other save chances as matchups dictate, but Fairbanks remains the primary high-leverage option for manager Kevin Cash.   • Escapes with no-decision Saturday
    Eflin came away with a no-decision in Saturday's 5-4 win over the Blue Jays, giving up four runs on nine hits over six innings. He struck out three without walking a batter.

    Advice: After keeping Toronto hitters in check the first time through the order, things went off the rails for Eflin in the fourth and fifth innings, putting the Rays in a 4-0 hole that they eventually climbed out of. The right-hander did manage to keep the ball in the yard, snapping a streak of four straight starts in which he'd served up a homer. Eflin will take a 4.12 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and stellar 44:4 K:BB through 59 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home next weekend against the Royals.     Elder and Atlanta will not play Saturday after their game versus the Padres was postponed due to inclement weather.

    Advice: While he wasn't dominant, managing only six swinging strikes among his 83 pitches, Falter produced a steady stream of weak contact and didn't give up an extra-base hit or letting a baserunner get into scoring position until the eighth inning, when Colin Holderman replaced him and shut down a Cubs rally. Falter has delivered back-to-back quality starts, giving him four on the season, and the southpaw will take a 3.53 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 29:13 K:BB through 51 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home next weekend against Atlanta. He’s only a spot starter for fantasy purposes, but he can contribute strikeouts in the right matchups. The 26-year-old left-hander is scheduled to face the Angels on the road next weekend.
