  • Harper hits 14th home run in win Saturday
    Bryce Harper went 2-for-3 with three runs scored, a walk and a two-run home run against the Cardinals on Saturday.

    Advice: The home run was Harper’s 14th on the season. He scored all three time he was on base and broke the game open with a two-run home run in the seventh inning to put the Phillies ahead 6-1.   • Gray strikes out 10 in loss Saturday
    Sonny Gray allowed four runs in five innings and took the loss in the Cardinals’ 6-1 loss against the Phillies on Saturday.

    Advice: Gray gave up five hits, walked three and struck out 10. The Phillies jumped on him early scoring three runs in the first inning. Gray was mostly in charge the rest of the way allowing only one more run and recording 10 punch outs. His 77 strikeouts this season put him inside the top 15 for starting pitchers in all off baseball. The 34-year-old right-hander is set to face the Rockies at home next week.     Weathers (3-5) took the loss to the Rangers on Saturday, allowing four runs on nine hits and no walks with 11 strikeouts over six innings.

    Advice: Weathers opened with two scoreless frames before allowing two runs in each of the third and fourth innings. Weathers struck out the side in his sixth and final inning to finish with a season-high 11 strikeouts, but nine hits allowed also represented his highest total in 2024.     Advice: Langford singled and scored a run in the fourth inning then added a two-run base hit in the ninth. In four games since returning from the injured list with a hamstring strain, Langford has posted two multi-hit efforts and totaled four RBI. Langford's current slash line of .229/.292/.290 have obviously been disappointing, but he appears healthy and has started each game since his return from the injured list on May 28. Lorenzen has gone at least six innings in eight of his nine starts this season and now owns a 2.96 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 44:26 K:BB through 54.2 innings. The 23-year-old infielder suffered a right hamstring strain during the second inning of Saturday’s contest — the severity of which is not yet known.     Francys Romero reports that the White Sox plan to recall Oscar Colas from Triple-A Charlotte on Sunday.

    Advice: With Luis Robert Jr. nearing a return, the timing doesn’t seem optimal for the 25-year-old outfielder to get a real shot at playing time with the White Sox, so we’ll see how this one goes.
