Oneil Cruz is not in the starting lineup Sunday against Atlanta.

Advice: Cruz will get a break from the lineup for the first time in seven games. The talented shortstop will receive his breather with Alika Williams getting the start at shortstop against Chris Sale and Atlanta. Rotoworld 17 minutes ago
    • Receiving breather Sunday
Cruz is out of the lineup for Sunday's game versus Atlanta, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

Advice: Lefty Chris Sale is taking the mound Sunday for Atlanta, and Cruz will head to the bench after starting the previous six games. The shortstop has been scuffling at the plate recently with a .488 OPS and 43.6 percent strikeout rate in his past nine contests. Alika Williams is starting at shortstop and batting ninth Sunday. • Rehabbing at Single-A
Leonard (oblique) began a rehab assignment with Single-A Lakeland on Tuesday and has gone 2-for-10 with a walk, a stolen base, two runs and an RBI through his first three games.

Advice: Leonard has resided on Triple-A Toledo's 7-day injured list April 9 with a left oblique strain, but he looks to be on the cusp of rejoining the Tigers' top affiliate. Before landing on the shelf, Leonard appeared in eight games for Toledo and slashed .219/.306/.250 in 36 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Today, 6:26 am
    • Steps in at third
Espinal started at third base and went 1-for-3 in Saturday's 3-1 win over the Dodgers.

Advice: Espinal was a late addition to the lineup after Jeimer Candelario (neck) was scratched. The utility infielder is getting a relevant amount of plate appearances due to injuries and a player suspension. While his .195 average isn't attractive, Espinal has hit with regularity of late, going 9-for-33 (.273) with a double, a home run, three RBI, four walks, two steals and four runs scored over the last 11 games. • Connects for first homer of 2024
Duran went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Saturday's loss to the Twins.

Advice: Duran finally got on the board with his first long ball of the season, though that wasn't enough to save him from being lifted for a defensive replacement (Travis Jankowski) later in the game. While Duran now has a .284 batting average, he has just a .683 OPS, and his playing time has been trending downward. The 25-year-old had been in the starting lineup for just two of the Rangers' last six games entering Saturday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:37 pm

    • Homers, steals base in win
Turang went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and a stolen base Saturday in Boston.

Advice: His third home run of the season came in the eighth inning off reliever Zack Kelly. Turang had drawn a walk and notched his 19th stolen base of the season earlier in the contest. After going 26-for-30 in stolen base attempts as a rookie, Turang is now a perfect 19-for-19 in 2024. Only Elly De La Cruz has more this season with 31. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:45 pm
    • Nico Hoerner drives in two runs in loss to Cards
Nico Hoerner went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI on Saturday night as the Cubs dropped a heartbreaker to the Cardinals in St. Louis.

Advice: Hoerner tied the game in the fourth inning with a two-run double off of Miles Mikolas. He then came around to score on a run-scoring knock off the bat of Michael Busch. With his two-hit night, the 27-year-old infielder is now hitting .263/.352/.380 with a pair of homers, 15 RBI and five stolen bases. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:17 pm
    • Rehab games next week
Diamondbacks farm director Shaun Larkin said Saturday that Lawlar (thumb) will play in rehab games next week and is on track for a full return in two weeks, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.

Advice: Lawlar underwent surgery in late March to repair a torn ligament in his right thumb and has been progressing on schedule. The top prospect is on the 60-day injured list at Triple-A Reno. Lawlar should push to join the Diamondbacks eventually but needs to knock off some rust in the minors. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:46 pm
    • Trea Turner runs at higher intensity on Saturday
Trea Turner (hamstring) was able to run at a higher intensity on Saturday as he continues to work his way back from a left hamstring strain.

Advice: If he feels alright on Sunday, he could soon progress to actually running on the bases. He’ll still need to take swings against live pitching and play in at least some simulated games before he’ll be ready to rejoin the Phillies’ lineup, but he continues to make much quicker progress than originally anticipated.
