• Cooper Criswell lifted with lead in fifth
Cooper Criswell was lifted after allowing one run in 4 1/3 innings Sunday against the Twins.

Advice: The early exit from a 3-1 game denied Criswell a chance for a third straight victory. He allowed five hits, walked one and struck out five while throwing 80 pitches. The Red Sox are getting both Nick Pivetta and Brayan Bello back this week, but Criswell should remain in the rotation for now. He could lose his spot once Garrett Whitlock returns later this month. • Joe Ryan gets loss after quality start
Joe Ryan pitched six innings and allowed three runs Sunday in a loss to the Red Sox.

Advice: Ryan still hasn’t allowed more than three earned runs in a start and he’s completed six innings five times, but all he has to show for it is a 1-2 record to go along with his 3.54 ERA and 46/6 K/BB ratio. He’ll get the Blue Jays next. Rotoworld 25 minutes ago

  • Edouard Julien fans three times in defeat
Edouard Julien struck out all three times he was up before being replaced Sunday against the Red Sox.

Advice: Julien had a great stretch towards the end of last month to push his OPS up to .890, but he’s back down to .795 now after going 1-for-18 with 11 strikeouts in his last seven games. He does have six walks during that span, but he hasn’t scored a single run. It’s going to be tough to justify using him in shallow leagues if he’s a platoon player not hitting for average or stealing many bases. Rotoworld 25 minutes ago

  • Could be back by next weekend
Astros GM Dana Brown said Sunday that the plan is to have Javier (neck) "back by at least the Detroit series" that begins Friday, Chandler Rome of The Athleticreports.

Advice: The right-hander threw 68 pitches during his rehab start with Double-A Corpus Christi on Saturday, allowing three runs on three hits with three strikeouts and two walks. The Astros have already listed their probable starters for the three-game set against the Yankees this week, which sets up Javier to potentially pitch next weekend versus the Tigers. • Allows two homers in no-decision
Falter did not factor into the decision, allowing three runs on six hits and two walks over 5.1 innings Sunday against the Rockies. He struck out three.

Advice: Falter allowed three consecutive extra-base hits including back-to-back homers in the second that allowed three runs to cross the plate but was able to keep the Pirates in the game, working his way through 5.1 innings without allowing any additional damage. Falter has tossed at least five innings in six of seven starts this season while allowing three or fewer runs in five of those games for an ERA of 4.34 with a quality 1.02 WHIP. Despite his general effectiveness, Falter's spot in the rotation appears shaky as Pirates' top-prospect Paul Skenes also pitched Sunday in Triple-A with a call to the majors likely not too far off for the highly-touted righty. When Skenes does receive the call, it will either be Falter or Quinn Priester who are likely to lose their spot with the currently injured Marco Gonzales also muddying up the waters further if/when he eventually returns from a forearm issue that's kept him sidelined since April 14. • Paul DeJong scores twice as White Sox beat Cards
Paul DeJong went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, two runs scored and an RBI as the White Sox triumphed over the Cardinals 5-1 on Sunday afternoon.

Advice: DeJong smacked a one-out ground-rule double off of Matthew Liberatore in the second inning, took third on a wild pitch and scored on a sacrifice fly by Bryan Ramos. He then further victimized his former squad with an RBI double in the seventh inning that extended the White Sox lead to 3-1. He scored later in the inning on an RBI knock by Braden Shewmake. With his two-hit attack, DeJong is now hitting .224/.267/.412 with three long balls and seven RBI in 90 plate appearances. Rotoworld 33 minutes ago

  • Eloy Jiménez crushes solo homer in win on Sunday
Eloy Jiménez belted a go-ahead solo homer in the seventh inning on Sunday, helping to power the White Sox to victory over the Cardinals.

Advice: The 27-year-old slugger led off the seventh inning with his 411-foot (105.8 mph EV) solo shot off of Giovanny Gallegos — giving the White Sox a 2-1 advantage. That would be his lone hit in four at-bats on the afternoon. For the season, Jiménez is now hitting .231/.291/.397 with four homers and 11 RBI. Rotoworld 33 minutes ago

  • Garrett Crochet fans six in victory over Cardinals
Garrett Crochet picked up his second victory of the season on Sunday afternoon, striking out six batters over six innings of one-run baseball against the Cardinals.

Advice: The 24-year-old southpaw scattered just three hits on the afternoon and didn’t walk a batter. The lone blemish on his day came on a solo blast off the bat of Willson Contreras in the fourth inning. Aside from that, he was brilliant. Crochet generated eight swings and misses on 88 pitches on the day — four of those on his cutter — while posting a CSW of 28 percent. Now 2-4 on the season, he’ll carry a 5.31 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and a 53/9 K/BB ratio (40 2/3 innings) into Friday’s showdown against the Guardians. Rotoworld 33 minutes ago

  • Matthew Liberatore strikes out five against ChiSox
Matthew Liberatore pitched well in a spot start against the White Sox on Sunday, allowing just one run on three hits over 3 2/3 innings of work.

Advice: The 24-year-old hurler punched out five batters on the afternoon and didn’t walk a batter. For not being stretched out, he worked deeper than expected, throwing 50 pitches (33 strikes) in the ballgame. The lone tally against him came on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Bryan Ramos in the second inning. Liberatore got seven whiffs on the afternoon, posting a CSW of 32 percent. It’s unclear if he’ll get another shot next weekend against the Brewers, or if the Cardinals will utilize Zack Thompson to fill Steven Matz’s spot in the rotation going forward.
