    • Goes through agility drills
Turner (hamstring) went through agility drills and fielded grounders at Citizens Bank Park on Wednesday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Turner is less than two weeks removed from suffering a left hamstring strain, so it would seem to be a positive development that he's already working out on the field. Phillies manager Rob Thomson insisted Wednesday that "there is no timeline" for Turner's return, but it's possible the shortstop has a shot to beat the initially projected six-week timetable. • Max Scherzer set to play catch on Wednesday
Max Scherzer (thumb) is scheduled to play catch on Wednesday.

Advice: The 39-year-old right-hander underwent MRI exams on his triceps, elbow and neck — all of which came back clean. It’s a nerve issue that he’s trying to manage, and it may wind up being something that he just needs to play through and learn how to manage. There’s still no clear timetable for his potential return to the Rangers’ rotation. Rotoworld 11 minutes ago

    • Trea Turner (hamstring) takes ground balls
Trea Turner (hamstring) took ground balls and did some agility drills on the field on Wednesday without any issue.

Advice: Turner told reporters after landing on the injured list in early May that he would miss at least six weeks with his left hamstring strain. He appears to be making excellent progress in his recovery though, and I don’t think it would surprise anyone at this point if he beat that initial estimate. Rotoworld 40 minutes ago

    • Luis Arraez not in Padres’ lineup on Wednesday
Luis Arraez is not in the Padres’ starting lineup for Wednesday’s tilt against the Rockies.

Advice: It looks to be nothing more than a routine day of rest for the two-time defending batting champion. Manny Machado will function as the team’s designated hitter on Wednesday while Donovan Solano will draw a start at third base and bat sixth against left-hander Austin Gomber and the Rockies. Jurickson Profar will slide up to the leadoff spot in the Padres’ lineup. Rotoworld 48 minutes ago

    • William Contreras homers, Brewers demolish Pirates
William Contreras went 3-for-5 with a three-run homer and four RBI on Wednesday, leading the Brewers to a decisive 10-2 victory over the Pirates.

Advice: Contreras is rapidly evolving into one of the premier four-category contributors in the entire fantasy landscape as his latest three-hit performance, his sixth of the season, raises his batting average to an astronomical .359 mark through 43 contests. The 26-year-old backstop crushed a three-run homer off Pirates southpaw Martín Pérez in the third inning and also added an RBI triple a couple frames later as Milwaukee hit five homers in a blowout victory. He’s up to 39 runs scored and 34 homers already to go along with six homers and three steals as well. There isn’t much left to say at this point besides legitimately asking if he’s going to surpass Orioles superstar Adley Rutschman as the consensus top catcher in fantasy at some point in the future. • Back on bench Wednesday
Merrifield is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mets.

Advice: With Bryce Harper (migraine) and Kyle Schwarber (back) both missing time in recent days, Merrifield was one of the main beneficiaries. He started in seven of the previous eight games while manning three different positions, but Merrifield provided just three hits over 32 at-bats over that stretch to bring his batting average down to .188. Both Harper and Schwarber are simultaneously in the lineup for the first time since last Friday, so Merrifield will retreat to the bench and will most likely be in store for a reduction in playing time moving forward. • Resting Wednesday
Stephenson is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: He'll get a breather for Wednesday's afternoon game after starting behind the plate both of the past two days while going 4-for-9 with two doubles and three runs. Luke Maile will get the starting nod behind the plate in the series finale. Rotowire.com Today, 10:20 am
    • Taking seat Wednesday
Arraez is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies.

Advice: Arraez will get his second day off since he was acquired from the Marlins earlier this month. The Padres will have Manny Machado fill the designated-hitter spot while Donovan Solano covers third base. Jurickson Profar will bat leadoff in Arraez's stead. Rotowire.com Today, 10:18 am

    • Runs bases Wednesday
Thomas (knee) ran the bases Wednesday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: It's the first time he's done so since being diagnosed with a Grade 2 MCL sprain in his left knee three weeks ago. Zuckerman notes that Thomas was not running at full effort but seemed to be moving at close to 100 percent. Running the bases is typically one of the last steps a player coming back from a leg issue takes before a rehab assignment, although it's not clear exactly when Thomas might be cleared for rehab games.
