      George Springer went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer on Monday, leading the Blue Jays to a 5-1 victory over the White Sox.

      Advice: Springer set the tone early for Toronto with a second-inning blast off White Sox rookie Nick Nastrini. It was just his fourth round-tripper of the season and first time he’s gone deep since April 24.     • Cole Irvin tosses five frames to beat Red Sox
      Cole Irvin spun five shutout innings on Monday in a win over the Red Sox.

      Advice: Irvin was staked to an early lead and was able to cruise to a relatively easy victory, limiting Boston’s lineup to just four hits over five frames of work. He struck out six and also handed out a trio of free passes. The 30-year-old lefty still isn’t missing a ton of bats, but he’s been effective in his last couple outings following a rocky start to the year. He’ll remain in Baltimore’s starting rotation mix with both John Means (forearm) and Dean Kremer (triceps) on the shelf. He’ll bring a strong 2.84 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 36/11 K/BB ratio across 50 2/3 innings (10 appearances, eight starts) into a home outing on Sunday against the strikeout-prone Rays.     • Nearing rehab assignment
      Conforto (hamstring) could begin a rehab assignment later this week, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

      Advice: Conforto was cleared to resume baseball activities last week as he works his way back from a right hamstring strain, although it's uncertain whether he's done any running yet.       Michael Conforto (hamstring) could start a rehab assignment later this week.

      Advice: Fellow outfielder Austin Slater (concussion) is starting a rehab assignment at Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday, and Conforto could join him later in the week. The 31-year-old is off to a tremendous start with a .280/.331/.490 slash line and seven home runs in 38 games. He was placed on the IL on May 12th and his return to the active roster could be bad news for one of Luis Matos or Heliot Ramos, who have been playing regularly since Conforto was injured.     • Rehab to continue at Triple-A
      Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said Sunday that Lewis (quadricep) responded well to his first two minor-league rehab games, but the 24-year-old remains without a clear timeline to return from the 10-day injured list, Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. "But he's going to play this week, and we're going to see how he's doing," Baldelli said.

      Advice: Lewis went 3-for-9 with a double, two runs and a stolen base over his two rehab games this weekend. The stolen base in particular was an encouraging sign that he's no longer slowed by his right quad strain, though the Twins have told him to play it safe and not attempt any more stolen bases during his rehab assignment. The Twins have been guarded about when Lewis may return, but given the team's need for offense, he may not need more than a week in the minors.
