    • Short outing Friday
Sanchez came away with a no-decision in Friday's 8-2 win over the Rangers, giving up two runs on four hits and a walk over four-plus innings. He didn't strike out a batter.

Advice: After throwing at least 76 pitches in each of his three prior starts, Sanchez saw his workload ratcheted back in this one as he tossed only 53 pitches (29 strikes), getting the hook after allowing back-to-back hits to lead off the fifth inning. The right-hander is still looking for his first win of the season -- and first since Sept. 13, 2020 -- and has completed five innings only once since getting a chance to start, but he figures to continue plugging a hole in the Marlins' rotation until Edward Cabrera (shoulder) gets healthy or the team decides to bring Max Meyer back up. Sanchez will carry a 6.06 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 17:14 K:BB through 35.2 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home next weekend against the Guardians. • Early exit in Miami
Urena (1-5) took the loss Friday, giving up four runs (two earned) on four hits and two walks over 2.1 innings as the Rangers fell 8-2 to the Marlins. He struck out one.

Advice: An error by Marcus Semien in the third inning did Urena no favors, but the right-hander also wasn't fooling anyone, managing only five swinging strikes among his 65 pitches before getting the hook. Urena is on his fifth team in four seasons since leaving Miami after the 2020 campaign, and while he sports a solid 3.74 ERA and 1.34 WHIP through 45.2 innings for Texas this year, his 5.61 ERA and 1.59 WHIP over the prior three seasons suggest regression is coming. If he gets another turn through the rotation, Urena lines up for a home start next week, either Wednesday against the Tigers or Friday against the Giants. Rotowire.com 13 minutes ago

    • Pilfers ninth bag
Hamilton went 3-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base in Friday's 7-3 win over the Tigers.

Advice: Getting the start at shortstop and batting eighth, Hamilton produced his second three-hit performance in the last eight games. The 26-year-old infielder has claimed a regular spot in Boston's starting lineup over the second half of May, and through the last 14 games he's slashing .375/.432/.575 with three doubles, a triple, a homer, four RBI, seven runs and five of his nine stolen bases on the season. • Struggles with control, takes loss
Smyly (2-3) allowed two runs on a hit and three walks across 1.1 innings of relief Friday against the Reds. He struck out three.

Advice: While Smyly was effective at missing bats he was equally ineffective finding the plate. The three walks are a new season high and his BB/9 for the year is now up to 5.1, which would be a new career worst. Smyly will need to exhibit better control if he wants to chip away at his 5.06 ERA, and he's off the fantasy radar at the moment given his role and recent performance. Rotowire.com 28 minutes ago

    • Launches pinch-hit homer
Espinal entered as a pinch hitter and went 1-for-1 with a two-run home run in Friday's 5-4 win over the Cubs.

Advice: Espinal pinch hit for Will Benson against lefty reliever Drew Smyly and launched his third home run of the season to give the Reds a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. It was the first time in four games that Espinal appeared in game. The utility infielder has been useful while the Reds deal with early-season injuries. Rotowire.com 34 minutes ago

    • Goes deep Friday
Keith went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 7-3 loss to the Red Sox.

Advice: Keith connected for his second home run of the season in the eighth inning against Boston reliever Greg Weissert. After a slow start to the year, the rookie had a torrid May, slashing .342/.388/.493 with both of his home runs and 14 RBI across 24 games. If Keith keeps this level of performance up in June and beyond, he'll be a huge fantasy asset down the stretch. Rotowire.com 39 minutes ago

    • Hit hard in Friday's loss
Maeda (2-2) took the loss Friday as the Tigers fell 7-3 to the Red Sox, coughing up five runs on eight hits and two walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out six.

Advice: It could have been a lot worse for the veteran right-hander. While five of the eight hits he surrendered went for extra bases, three of them were doubles high off the Green Monster that nearly left Fenway Park completely. Maeda took a big step back after blanking the Blue Jays over five innings in his first start off the IL back on May 24, but Friday's performance was more in line with his 2024 campaign so far. Maeda will take a 6.25 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 30:12 K:BB through 40.1 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come on the road next week against the Rangers. Rotowire.com 48 minutes ago
    • Blanks Jays in no-decision
Falter came away with a no-decision in Friday's 5-3 extra-innings loss to the Blue Jays, allowing two hits and two walks over six scoreless innings. He struck out five.

Advice: The southpaw left the game with the Pirates nursing a 1-0 lead, but the game didn't end up getting decided until the 14th. Falter tossed 56 of 81 pitches for strikes in his fourth straight quality start and sixth of the season, and the former Phillie has become a surprisingly reliable rotation option in 2024. He'll take a 3.22 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 38:16 K:BB through 64.1 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come at home next week against the Dodgers. Rotowire.com Today, 5:18 am
    • Giovanny Gallegos (shoulder) starts rehab assignment
Giovanny Gallegos (shoulder) tossed a perfect inning on Friday in a minor league rehab appearance for Triple-A Memphis.

Advice: Gallegos has been out since early May due to a right shoulder impingement, but appears to be getting close to returning to St. Louis. The 32-year-old veteran reliever struggled in 13 appearances to open the season and can be safely ignored in all fantasy formats. Rotoworld Today, 5:09 am
