    • Getting Sunday off
O'Hearn is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays.

Advice: The lefty-hitting O'Hearn typically hits the bench against left-handed pitchers, but he'll get a breather versus a righty (Zack Littell) for the series finale. Adley Rutschman will get a day off from catching and will start at designated hitter in place of O'Hearn, who had been included in the lineup in each of the previous five games. • Continues surge Thursday
Toro went 3-for-5 with an RBI single, a double, a walk, a stolen base and a run in an extra-innings loss to the Rays on Thursday.

Advice: Toro wreaked havoc during the 12-inning contest, putting together his third multi-hit effort in the last four games. The 27-year-old also ripped a two-bagger for the second straight game, and his clutch RBI single in the 10th snapped a 4-4 tie at the time. Toro has found a home in the leadoff spot, logging a .277 batting average, 11 extra-base hits, three steals and 19 runs in 156 plate appearances from the top of the order. • Resting against lefty
O'Hearn is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.

Advice: The lefty-hitting O'Hearn will check out of the lineup with the White Sox bringing southpaw Garrett Crochet to the hill for the series finale. Adley Rutschman will get a day off from catching duties and will serve as Baltimore's designated hitter in place of O'Hearn. Rotowire.com May 26, 11:04 am

    • Kicks off rally with homer
O'Hearn went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 5-3 win over the White Sox.

Advice: With the O's down 3-0 in the eighth inning, O'Hearn got the comeback started with an epic at-bat against Jordan Leasure that saw the slugger foul off five straight pitches before launching a slider over the right-field fence. OHearn remains in a strong-side platoon role -- he's gotten only eight plate appearances against LHP so far in 2024 -- but he does his job well, slashing .294/.364/.521 against lefties this season with seven homers and 18 RBI in 132 PAs. • Ryan O’Hearn blasts two-run homer vs. White Sox
Ryan O’Hearn went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer against the White Sox on Saturday.

Advice: The Orioles were held scoreless going into the eighth inning. With a runner on, O’Hearn ended the shutout with a two-run blast off Jordan Leasure to bring the Orioles to within one run. It was the seventh home run of the season for the 30-year-old slugger. He’s slashing .276/.343/.488 with 18 RBI across 140 plate appearances. Rotoworld May 25, 2:25 pm

    • Triston Casas on track to start swinging next week
Triston Casas (rib) told reporters Saturday that he’s on track to resume swinging a bat next week.

Advice: Casas has been on the shelf, and unable to resume hitting at all, since suffering torn cartilage in his left rib cage back in mid-April. The 24-year-old slugger doesn’t have a firm return timetable yet, but the fact that he’ll resume swinging soon provides some optimism that he’ll be ready to return when first eligible on June 21. • Logs steal in win
Garcia went 1-for-4 with a walk, a stolen base and one run scored in Friday's 8-1 win over the Rays.

Advice: Garcia's hitting streak is up to 11 games, during which he's gone 17-for-48 (.354) with five steals, six extra-base hits and eight RBI. The third baseman has 13 thefts on the year, and he's yet to be caught stealing. He's added a .266/.313/.425 slash line with five home runs, 32 RBI, 31 runs scored, 12 doubles and three triples over 50 contests as the Royals' near-everyday leadoff hitter. • Taking grounders
Casas (ribs) took grounders at first base Friday, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Casas began throwing during Boston's previous homestand and has also been running and lifting. The next step for Casas will be swinging a bat, which requires rotation and puts more stress on the ribs and torso. No target date has been set for that yet. Rotowire.com May 25, 6:09 am
