    • Seven strong innings
      King came away with a no-decision Sunday against the Royals, allowing one run on four hits and two walks while striking out four over seven innings.

      Advice: King was sharp, not allowing an extra-base hit and turning in another quality start, his fifth over his past six contests. The 29-year-old snapped a three-game streak allowing a home run, something he has struggled with all season -- his 1.8 HR/9 ranks in the ninth percentile. On the whole, King has been solid this season, recording a 3.82 ERA and 1.23 WHIP with a 78:31 K:BB across 73 innings.     • Allows five runs in loss
      Brown (1-2) allowed five runs on six hits across five innings to take the loss Sunday against the Reds. He walked one and struck out six.

      Advice: Brown actually pitched decently, but he was done in by a three-run home run by TJ Friedl and a lack of run support in the 5-2 loss. The five runs allowed are the rookie's most since he gave up six in his MLB debut back on March 30. Outside of the few hiccups, Brown has been pretty solid, and he's still sitting with a strong 3.33 ERA across 51.1 innings to go along with 61 strikeouts. The righty is penciled in to start again on Saturday against this same Cincinnati squad, though the pending return of Jordan Wicks (forearm) could push Brown out of the rotation after that.     • Michael King gets tough luck no decision vs KC
      Michael King allowed one run on four hits in seven innings in a no-decision against the Royals.

      Advice: King was all set to record the win with the Padres up 3-1 heading into the bottom of the ninth inning. However, with their bullpen being taxed heavily over the last few days, the Padres had to go with Yuki Matsui to close the game, and he allowed three runs while only recording one out. King was only able to induce eight whiffs on 48 swings for a 17 percent whiff rate and 24 percent CSW, but he allowed an average exit velocity on all batted balls of just 84 mph. Despite some poor starts, he has been a solid fantasy starter for much of the year and makes for a fine play against the Diamondbacks next week. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:37 pm
       
    • Ben Brown struggles in follow-up to no-hit effort
      Ben Brown allowed five runs on six hits in five innings in a loss to the Reds on Sunday.

      Advice: Brown struck out six and walked one, but he was far more hittable in this one than last week. Brown did post a 32 percent whiff rate and 36 percent CSW on the day, but much of that was on the back of his curveball, which is a strong pitch. His four-seam fastball is less impressive, and Brown threw it 70 percent of the time on Sunday, which is part of the downside of Brown as a two-pitch pitcher. Brown has a 3.33 ERA on the season and has clear strikeout upside, but his limited pitch mix will make him a volatile fantasy asset and with Jordan Wicks set to return from the injured list, there’s no telling how many more starts Brown will make after next week’s start in Cincinnati.     • Hand showing improvement
      Phillies manager Rob Thomson said Sunday that the swelling in Suarez's hand has improved significantly, and the left-hander could pick up a ball in the next day or two, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

      Advice: The 28-year-old was struck in the left hand by a comebacker during Saturday's start against the Cardinals, but he's had X-rays come back negative and already appears to be progressing in his recovery. It remains to be seen if Suarez will be cleared for his next turn through the rotation, but he's certainly trending in the right direction. The Phillies also have three scheduled days off surrounding next weekend's two-game series versus the Mets in London, so the club could give Suarez some extra time between outings without needing an additional starter.       Ranger Suárez (thumb) reported feeling much improved on Sunday and there’s optimism from the team that he’ll be able to make his next scheduled start.

      Advice: The 28-year-old southpaw was lifted from Saturday’s start after he was hit on his pitching hand by a comebacker, but the swelling went way down overnight and he’s feeling much better already. Phillies’ skipper Rob Thomson said they’ll wait a day or two before he attempts to throw, but it sounds like he’ll be able to take the hill as planned against the Mets in London next weekend.       Miller (shoulder) is scheduled for a rehab start Friday with Triple-A Oklahoma City after he allowed four runs on five hits and a walk over 3.1 innings Saturday for Single-A Rancho Cucamonga, Eric Stephen of SBNation.comreports.

      Advice: Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Saturday that Miller experienced some reduced velocity, but it doesn't appear to be injury related. The right-hander threw 65 pitches and will continue building up his workload to about five innings as he moves up to the Triple-A level.       Gray (7-3) took the loss Saturday versus the Phillies, allowing four runs on five hits and three walks while striking out 10 over five innings.

      Advice: Gray reached double-digit strikeouts for the second time in 10 starts this year, but he received little run support after a shaky first inning. The right-hander has allowed at least four runs in three of his last five outings. For the season, he's at a 3.00 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 77:15 K:BB over 57 innings.       X-rays on the injured thumb of Phillies’ left-hander Ranger Suárez came back negative for any fractures on Saturday.

      Advice: Phillies’ skipper Rob Thomson told reporters that Suárez is still dealing with some swelling in his thumb but that the team feels fortunate to have dodged any serious injuries. He’s slated to take the mound against the Mets next weekend in London, but it’s still unclear whether or not he’ll be able to take the hill.
