After producing a pair of quality starts in his first two outings with Arizona, Montgomery has registered a rough 6.61 ERA over his last six starts.       Nola (7-2) earned the win Friday over the Cardinals, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks over 6.1 innings. He struck out six.

      Advice: It was another strong outing from Nola, who held St. Louis to a pair of solo home runs in a winning effort. The 30-year-old right-hander has held opponents to two runs or fewer in each of his last four outings. Nola's ERA now sits at 3.03 on the year with a 1.03 WHIP and 71:22 K:BB across 12 starts (77.1 innings).       Jordan Montgomery allowed six earned runs across four innings in a loss to the Mets on Friday. He struck out just four while walking three batters and giving up nine hits.

      Advice: Montgomery’s poor season continued on Friday. The Diamondbacks gifted him a 3-0 lead before he took the mound and still managed to cough it up before the third inning. Once again, his sinker was hit incredibly hard - the Mets had an average exit velocity of 97 MPH off the pitch - and he wound up trashing it as the game went on in favor of more four-seam fastballs and curveballs.       Aaron Nola picked up his seventh victory of the season on Friday night, limiting the Cardinals to two runs on three hits over his 6 1/3 innings of work.

      Advice: The 30-year-old right-hander racked up six strikeouts on the evening while issuing two free passes. Both of the runs against him came on solo home runs — one by Brandon Crawford in the third inning and another off the bat of Nolan Arenado in the seventh. Nola generated 10 swings and misses on 96 pitches on the night — six of those on his knuckle curve — while registering a CSW of 30 percent.       Advice: Gilbert began his outing with three scoreless frames, but homers by Alex Bregman and Victor Caratini plated three runs for the Astros across the fourth and fifth innings. Gilbert still had a chance to extend his three-game quality-start streak, but that was extinguished when he gave up another run in the sixth.       Advice: Gilbert was burned by the long ball in this one as homers by Alex Bregman and Victor Caratini in the fourth and fifth innings, respectively, accounted for nearly all of the damage against him. He finished with five strikeouts and only issued one walk. It was just the third time in 12 starts this season that he’s surrendered four earned runs or more.       Advice: Cortes allowed multiple runs for the first time in three starts, but it was still a passable outing for the southpaw. He allowed a total of nine runs (eight earned) over 29 innings across five starts in May while adding a 30:8 K:BB in that span. Cortes is at a 3.30 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 67:15 K:BB through 71 innings over 12 starts this season. He's projected to make his next start on the road in San Francisco.       Advice: The 40-year-old Morton allowed a career-high 12 hits in this start as the Nationals laced eight singles, three doubles and one homer. However, he also managed to generate an impressive 18 whiffs en route to his seven punchouts. Overall, the Atlanta veteran owns a 4.29 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 59:23 K:BB in 56.2 innings this season.
