• Will begin swinging this week
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Tuesday that Casas (ribs) will begin swinging a bat this week, Julian McWilliams of The Boston Globe reports.

Advice: Casas underwent an MRI on Tuesday and is apparently ready to take the next step. He had been lightly swinging a bat but never graduated to swinging with full force. Cora said the team will reveal more details Wednesday. Casas is targeting a return for July 2, which might be too ambitious. Rotowire.com 12 minutes ago

  • Drives in four at Fenway
Guerrero went 2-for-5 with two doubles, a run scored and four RBI in Tuesday's 9-4 win over the Red Sox.

Advice: He did get charged with two errors, but Guerrero made up for his fielding gaffes with two-run doubles in the third and fourth innings. The first baseman is red hot, slashing .349/.364/.628 over the last 10 games with three doubles, three homers and 10 RBI. Rotowire.com 14 minutes ago
  • Goes yard twice against Yanks
Vientos went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs in Tuesday's 9-7 win over the Yankees.

Advice: The 24-year-old third baseman wasn't intimidated by the atmosphere in the Subway Series, or by the prospect of facing Gerrit Cole -- Vientos took the future Hall of Famer deep in the second and fourth innings to help the Mets build an early 6-0 lead. He's homered four times in the last five games, and through 19 games in June, Vientos has compiled a .275/.329/.565 slash line with six long balls, 12 RBI and 14 runs. • May remain at first base
Steer started at first base and went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's 9-5 loss to Pittsburgh.

Advice: Steer's been locked in of late, going 11-for-35 with eight RBI over the last nine contests. He began the season as the team's primary left fielder but has played a lot at first base since Christian Encarnacion-Strand (wrist) landed on the injured list in May. With news the Encarnacion-Strand opted for surgery that likely spells the end of his season, Steer is in line to become the club's primary first baseman. That could change when Noelvi Marte (suspension) returns. At that point, with Marte slotted in at third base, Jeimer Candelario could move from third to first. Rotowire.com Today, 5:10 am

  • Salvages day with late homer
Toglia went 1-for-4 with a solo home run during Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Astros.

Advice: Toglia was hitless in his first three at-bats but saved his stat line in the ninth inning by taking Josh Hader yard on a solo homer. The first baseman has homered on back-to-back nights and has belted four long balls in his last 10 games, batting 10-for-39 (.256) with nine runs and nine RBI during that stretch. • Tallies three hits
Mountcastle went 3-for-5 with a double and one run scored in Tuesday's 10-8 loss to the Guardians.

Advice: Mountcastle has four multi-hit efforts over his last seven games, going 11-for-28 (.393) in that span. While he hasn't hit a homer since June 7, he's still been consistent at the plate while occupying a starting role at first base. The 27-year-old is slashing .281/.325/.476 with 11 homers, 39 RBI, 43 runs scored, 21 doubles, one triple and two stolen bases over 74 games this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:54 pm
  • Clubs homer in loss
Santander went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 10-8 loss to the Guardians.

Advice: Santander's up to 12 homers over 24 contests in June. The power surge is impressive, though he's losing a little consistency at the plate by going just 2-for-15 over the last four games. That quiet stretch has taken some of the wind out of his sails as he looks to get his season-long numbers at a respectable level. Santander is slashing .232/.302/.505 with 21 homers, 53 RBI, 44 runs scored, 13 doubles and one triple over 75 contests. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:52 pm

  • Drives in three in win
Arias went 3-for-4 with a double, three RBI and one run scored in Tuesday's 10-8 win over the Orioles.

Advice: Arias has been in the lineup for the last two games since he returned from the family medical emergency list. The utility man provided a two-run double in the second inning and an RBI single in the eighth as one of four Guardians to log multiple hits in the contest. Arias is slashing .231/.262/.358 with two home runs, 14 RBI, 14 runs scored and four stolen bases on six attempts over 141 plate appearances this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:15 pm

  • Tallies 12th homer
Paredes went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run Tuesday against the Mariners.

Advice: Paredes went yard in the eighth inning to tally his 12th homer of the season and only his second since May 31. He's hit only .229 in that span with nine RBI and six runs scored. Despite the slow stretch, Paredes still has a .821 OPS and .358 wOBA for the season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:56 pm
