• Expected back in majors soon
Meyer will make another start at Triple-A Jacksonville on Friday, but Marlins manager Skip Schumaker said he expects the young right-hander to be back in the majors "soon," Nate Karzmer of Fish on First reports.

Advice: Schumaker made the statement earlier this week during an interview on the Fish Unfiltered podcast. The Marlins have an opening in their rotation Saturday against the Guardians, but that's expected to go to Roddery Munoz while Meyer makes his scheduled start Friday with Jacksonville. The 22-year-old Meyer struggled initially upon his workload-related demotion to Jacksonville back in April, but he's been better of late with a 17:4 K:BB in 11 innings covering his last three starts. Meyer hasn't gone more than four innings in any outing since the demotion as the Marlins rein in his workload in his first year back from Tommy John surgery. His starts could continue to be abbreviated when he rejoins the big club, but it does sound like Meyer will be back in the majors sooner rather than later. Rotowire.com Today, 12:57 pm

  • In line to start Saturday
Munoz is likely to be recalled to start Saturday versus the Guardians, Nate Karzmer of Fish on First reports.

Advice: Karzmer dropped the news following an interview with Marlins manager Skip Schumaker, although it's not clear whether Schumaker is the one who tipped Karzmer off. It's the rotation spot vacated by the injured Sixto Sanchez (shoulder). Munoz has collected a 5.17 ERA and 19:7 K:BB over 15.2 innings covering three starts with the Marlins this season. • Yusei Kikuchi bounces back with six strong in victory
Yusei Kikuchi allowed just a run over six innings against the Orioles on Thursday to pick up a win.

Advice: Kikuchi struck out six while scattering four hits with just one walk. It’s a vastly improved effort from the one Saturday against the Pirates when the southpaw allowed six runs on nine hits in that loss. Consistency has never been Kikuchi’s forte, but outside of a solo homer allowed to Adley Rutschman, this was a reminder of what the 32-year-old is capable of. He’s lined up to face the Brewers next week. Rotoworld Today, 12:37 pm

  • Cade Povich surrenders six runs in MLB debut
Cade Povich was charged for six runs in 5 1/3 innings while picking up a loss Thursday to the Blue Jays.

Advice: Povich has dealt with command issues in the minors, and unfortunately his control was a problem in his MLB debut with four walks. He also allowed five hits while fanning just two. The 24-year-old has the stuff to succeed, but fantasy managers saw the issues that could prevent him from doing so right now. If Povich starts again, the 24-year-old will likely face Atlanta next week. Rotoworld Today, 12:37 pm

  • Getting another start Saturday
Harris is scheduled to start Saturday's game against the Blue Jays in Oakland, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Advice: The Athletics' decisions to designate Aaron Brooks for assignment over the weekend and to option Joe Boyle to Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday after activating him from the injured list had already suggested that Harris was on track to remain in the rotation. Harris had previously made two long-relief appearances for Oakland this season before drawing a start in Tampa Bay last Thursday, when he struck out seven over three runs (one earned) over 5.2 innings in a no-decision. The southpaw has turned in a 7.67 ERA and 1.79 WHIP over his eight starts at Las Vegas this season and produced a 7.14 ERA over 63 innings in the big leagues in 2023, so fantasy managers should tread carefully with Harris for now even after his solid showing in his last outing. • Drawing another start
Herz is slated to start Sunday's game against Atlanta at Nationals Park, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Advice: The rookie will get a tough draw in his second MLB start, as he'll not only oppose a formidable Atlanta offense in a hitter-friendly environment, but he'll also be matching up head-to-head with one of the National League's top pitchers in Max Fried. After getting called up from Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday, Herz took a loss in his big-league debut against the Mets, giving up four earned runs on seven hits and two walks over four innings. • Getting second start
Woodford is scheduled to start Thursday's game against the Red Sox at Guaranteed Rate Field.

Advice: The White Sox called Woodford up from Triple-A Charlotte last week to fill the opening in the rotation that was created by Mike Clevinger's (elbow) placement on the 15-day injured list. Woodford's White Sox debut wasn't a memorable one -- he gave up three earned runs on five hits and two walks while striking out four over 4.1 innings in a May 28 loss to the Blue Jays -- but he'll get at least one more turn through the rotation while the team waits on Clevinger's return. • Expects to make next start
Arrighetti (calf) said after Tuesday's 8-5 win over the Cardinals that he expects to make his next turn through the rotation, which is expected to fall Monday in San Francisco, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports. "It's not bad," Arrighetti said of his injury. "I think I'll be just fine."

Advice: Arrighetti was lifted from his start Tuesday after just three innings with a left calf contusion, though he actually suffered the injury in question during the second inning, when he was struck by a 103.8-mph line drive off the bat of Ivan Herrera. Fortunately for both Arrighetti and the Astros, he looks to have avoided a major injury, though manager Joe Espada suggested that a decision on whether the rookie right-hander makes his next turn will hinge on him being able to finish his delivery when he pitches, as he uses his left leg as his plant leg. • Reds send Graham Ashcraft to Triple-A
Reds optioned RHP Graham Ashcarft to Triple-A Louisville.

Advice: Despite ranking high on Stuff+ leaderboards, it has simply never happened for Ashcraft. He has a 5.05 ERA and 1.46 WHIP in 62 1/3 innings this season and a career 4.86 ERA and 1.41 WHIP in 313 innings. He has a great slider, but the rest of his pitch mix seems to lag behind and the efforts to correct some of his issues against right-handed hitters have fallen short. He’ll try to work things out in the minors but unless he changes his pitch mix, it’s hard to see it happening. Rotoworld Today, 11:35 am
