• Matt Waldron gives up two, gets no-decision
Matt Waldron didn’t factor into the decision Thursday against the Reds after allowing two runs over five innings with seven strikeouts.

Advice: Waldron gave up both of his runs in his first two innings before settling down quite nicely. The 27-year-old gave up six hits and two walks in another solid effort for the knuckleballer after scuffling in the early portion of the season. He’s absolutely worth streaming consideration; particularly in a start Tuesday against the Marlins. Rotoworld 35 minutes ago

  • Frankie Montas surrenders four runs vs. Padres
Frankie Montas was charged for four runs in six innings in a no-decision against the Padres on Thursday.

Advice: This could have gone a lot worse. Montas gave up all four runs in the first two innings, but he was effective enough to give Cincinnati — and fantasy managers — six innings despite allowing nine hits in the contest. The right-hander has been shaky at best for Cincinnati over the first third of the season with a 4.64 ERA over nine starts as evidence. He’ll try and lower that mark next week against the Cardinals. • Jose Trevino leaves game Thursday with illness
Jose Trevino was removed from Thursday’s game against the Mariners due to illness.

Advice: Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters afterwards that Trevino wasn’t feeling well, which led to him being lifted for a pinch-hitter in the eighth inning of Thursday afternoon’s showdown. He’s presumably day-to-day for now. Rotoworld 40 minutes ago

  • Edmundo Sosa has three hits in win over Rangers
Edmundo Sosa went 3-for-4 in a win Thursday over the Rangers.

Advice: Sosa hasn’t gotten much attention in 2024, but it’s probably time for that to change. The three-hit afternoon pushes the 28-year-old’s average up to .323, and he’s slugging .548 to show he’s not just dinking-and-dunking the baseball. It’s only a sample of 58 at-bats, but he’s likely earned more playing time based on what he’s done so far in 2024. Rotoworld 45 minutes ago

  • Andrew Heaney allows nine hits, three earned
Andrew Heaney gave up four runs — three earned — over 3 2/3 innings in a loss to the Phillies on Thursday.

Advice: Heaney allowed nine hits in the contest, and he also allowed two walks with just one strikeout. The southpaw has not been able to complete four innings in his last two starts, and he’s seen his ERA increase to 4.69 over his 10 starts. Heaney would be in danger of losing his rotation spot if the Rangers rotation was remotely healthy, but it’s not, so he’ll remain a shaky fantasy option for the next few turns. • Pulled due to illness
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that Trevino was removed from Thursday's game versus the Mariners due to illness, Bryan Hoch Bryan Hoch of MLB.com.

Advice: Trevino was lifted in favor of pinch hitter Austin Wells in the bottom of the eighth inning after going 1-for-3 with a single in his first three plate appearances. Boone expects Trevino to be fine to travel with the team for its road trip beginning this weekend, so consider the catcher day-to-day. Rotowire.com Today, 12:48 pm

  • Joey Bart hits grand slam in loss to Giants
Joey Bart hit a grand slam Thursday in a loss to the Giants.

Advice: Bart was ejected late in this game, but before that dismissal, he did some damage against the team that drafted him with the second-overall pick in the 2017 MLB Draft. The backstop took Mason Black deep with the bases loaded to give Pittsburgh a 5-1 lead, but the Giants would end up coming back to win the contest. Bart also doubled, and appears to be having a breakout season with a .267/.362/.517 triple slash. Rotoworld Today, 12:44 pm

  • Tyler Rogers gets first save of 2024 vs. Pirates
Tyler Rogers hurled a scoreless ninth to pick up a save Thursday against the Pirates.

Advice: That’s the first save for Rogers, and with Camilo Doval locked into the closing role, it’s very likely his last for a while. The 33-year-old has a 2.22 ERA, eight holds and a 0.97 WHIP over his 26 appearances for the Giants in 2024. Rotoworld Today, 12:44 pm
  • Slated for bulk relief
Alexander is in line to serve as a bulk reliever in Friday's game versus the Royals, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: Alexander carried a perfect game into the eighth inning of his last outing in Toronto as a traditional starter, but he's slated to follow opener Shawn Armstrong on Friday. The left-hander holds a 5.06 ERA in six traditional starts and a 5.40 ERA in bulk relief this season. Rotowire.com Today, 12:32 pm
