      Advice: Vientos hit a solo homer off Slade Cecconi in the fifth inning then singled and scored a run in the ninth. After posting three hits on Friday, Vientos followed it up with another multi-hit effort that included his third home run in his past eight games. With Brett Baty being optioned to Triple-A Syracuse, it appears Vientos will have a chance to stake his claim at third base for the Mets. This was Lively's fourth win in as many games, and he has not allowed more than three runs in any of his nine starts this season. Tatis hasn’t been spectacular in the first 60-plus games of the season, but he’s up to 10 homers, 30 RBi and six stolen bases with a .772 OPS.       Ben Lively allowed two runs with four strikeouts across 5 2/3 innings in a win over the Nationals on Saturday.

      Advice: Lively worked through three scoreless inning before the Nationals brought two runs in to score in the fourth. After walking a batter with one out, Tyler Freeman misplayed a routine fly ball to put runners on second and third with one out instead of two outs and a runner on first. A groundout and a base hit would bring the two runs in to score. Lively would work a clean fifth and gave up a base hit with two outs in the sixth. That would end his day at 86 pitches -- 62 for strikes. He struck out four.       Poteet (finger) was activated from the minor-league 7-day injured list and called up to start Saturday's contest versus the Giants.

      Advice: Poteet is officially set to make his second major-league start of the season Saturday, replacing Clarke Schmidt (lat) on the mound for the Yankees. The right-handed Poteet last pitched with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on May 19, allowing three runs over four innings before missing his last outing with a blister. Poteet drew his first start with New York on April 13, tossing six innings of one-run ball while striking out four in a win over the Guardians. It's unclear if the Yankees view Poteet as a long-term replacement for Schmidt, who's expected to miss 4-to-6 weeks, but a strong outing Saturday would certainly make that a possibility.
