    • Jordan Romano (elbow) resumes throwing
Jordan Romano resumed throwing the last two days and could get back on a mound later this week.

Advice: Romano, out with elbow inflammation, is eligible to come the IL on Saturday, but there are no plans to activate him then. If everything goes well, he could be back before the end of the month. Rotoworld Monday, 4:04 pm

    • Set to resume throwing program
Romano (elbow) is expected to resume throwing Monday, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Advice: The right-hander will throw from flat ground and stretch out to 150 feet before beginning mound work. The Blue Jays are proceeding cautiously with their closer after he received an anti-inflammatory injection June 2, but Romano might still be able to avoid a rehab stint before being activated from the injured list. • Andrés Muñoz gets hold in return from sore back
Andrés Muñoz, who hadn’t pitched since aggravating his back Tuesday, returned to the mound with a scoreless eighth inning Sunday against the Royals.

Advice: Rather than save him for the ninth, the Mariners opted to use Muñoz against the top of the Royals order in the eighth with a two-run lead today. Muñoz did his part, but Michael Baumann went on to give up a game-tying homer in the bottom of the ninth. The Mariners went on to win in the 10th, with Tayler Saucedo collecting a one-out save. Ryne Stanek, typically the primary alternative to Muñoz, went unused for a second straight day after throwing 39 pitches between Thursday and Friday. Rotoworld Sunday, 5:22 pm

    • Back in action
Munoz (back) recorded one strikeout in a perfect eighth inning Sunday against the Royals. He said he "felt weird" out on the mound and was happy with the outing even though he didn't feel like he had his best stuff or command, per Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times.

Advice: He was the first reliever out of the bullpen after George Kirby tossed seven innings of one-run ball. Mike Baumann came on in the ninth inning and gave up two earned runs to blow the save (and eventually pick up the win). It sounds like Munoz will be considered available going forward, although his back might not feel fully healthy. Rotowire.com Sunday, 4:06 pm

    • Jordan Romano to resume throwing on Monday
Jordan Romano (elbow) is scheduled to resume throwing on Monday.

Advice: Blue Jays manager John Schneider added that Romano received an anti-inflammatory injection in his right elbow last weekend. It’s going to take a couple weeks for the 31-year-old closer to build up his arm strength before returning to Toronto’s bullpen, but it’s an encouraging sign that he’s been cleared to resume throwing again. • Andrés Muñoz available in relief this weekend
Andrés Muñoz (back) is available for Saturday’s game against the Royals.

Advice: Muñoz has been dealing with a back strain that he tweaked during an on-field collision earlier this week and appears ready to return this weekend after getting through a couple bullpen sessions without any issues. Rotoworld Saturday, 11:56 am

    • Throws light bullpen Friday
Munoz (back) threw a light bullpen session before Friday's game against the Royals, per Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times, but the reliever did not appear in the contest.

Advice: Divish had noted there was a possibility Munoz would be available for the first time since exiting Tuesday's game against the Athletics, but it was Ryne Stanek who got the ninth-inning call and ultimately failed to protect a 9-7 lead. With Stanek having appeared in three of the last four games and having thrown 39 pitches in the last two nights, Munoz would certainly be in line for any high-leverage work Saturday if he's healthy enough to handle it. • Chad Green coughs up walk-off homer on Friday
Chad Green surrendered a walk-off solo homer on Friday and was saddled with a loss in relief against the Athletics.

Advice: Green was called upon to work the bottom of the ninth inning in a tie ballgame out in Oakland and wound up surrendering a walk-off homer to JJ Bleday on his very first pitch of the outing. The 33-year-old has stepped into a more prominent high-leverage role with closer Jordan Romano on the injured list, but it’s been Yimi García primarily handling the closing duties over the last week. • Andrés Muñoz throws, could be available out of pen
Andrés Muñoz threw before Friday’s game and might be available to pitch against the Royals.

Advice: Muñoz has been unavailable since tweaking his already sore back on a collision at home plate during Tuesday’s game. Rotoworld Friday, 3:53 pm
