      Advice: The Dodgers put Gallen to task early, drawing 85 pitches out of the right-hander over four innings, with all three runs coming against him in his final frame. It marked Gallen's shortest outing of the season outside of his injury-shortened appearance on May 30 against the Mets and he's now allowed three runs in three of his last four starts (excluding May 30).       Zac Gallen allowed three runs over four innings Thursday in his start versus the Dodgers.

      Advice: The results weren’t great, but Gallen’s velocity tonight was even better in his first start back from the IL; he averaged 95.9 mph on his fastball, up from 95.2 mph last time out and 92.9 mph in the 11 starts before he went on the IL.       Webb (7-6) allowed two runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out six over seven innings to earn the win over Atlanta on Thursday.

      Advice: Webb gave up both runs on three hits and a sacrifice fly in the first inning, then settled in to produce a strong start by not allowing a runner past second base for the next six frames. He's gone seven innings in six of his last eight starts as he continues to be an innings-eater at the top of the Giants' rotation. For the season, Webb has a 3.09 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 103:27 K:BB over 119.1 innings through 19 starts. The right-hander is projected to make his next start at home versus the Blue Jays.       Morton (5-5) allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits and two walks while striking out five over 5.1 innings to take the loss versus the Giants on Thursday.

      Advice: Morton continues to alternated between good and bad starts, with this one being not particularly sharp. He threw 54 of 94 pitches for strikes and served up home runs to Heliot Ramos and Matt Chapman in the fourth inning. This was the first time all year Morton has been taken deep multiple times in a start. He's been generally effective with a 3.96 ERA despite a 1.25 WHIP and 92:38 K:BB over 91 innings across 16 starts. The veteran right-hander is projected to make his next start at Arizona.       Charlie Morton allowed four runs (three earned) in 5 1/3 innings and took the loss against the Giants on Thursday.



      Advice: Morton gave up five hits, walked two and struck out five. He had won two of his last three starts. Morton gave up a two-run home run to Heliot Ramos and a solo home run to Matt Chapman in the third inning. In the sixth inning, Chapman got him again for an RBI double. Morton has a 3.96 ERA and 92 strikeouts in 91 innings this season. The 40-year-old right-hander is set to face the Diamondbacks on the road next week.

    • Webb allows two runs in win over Braves Thursday
      Logan Webb allowed two runs in seven innings and got the win in the Giants’ 4-2 victory over the Braves on Thursday.



      Advice: Webb gave up seven hits, walked one and struck out six. The win was his seventh of the year. Webb gave up an RBI double to Ozzie Albies in the first inning and Albies later scored on an Austin Riley sacrifice fly to make it 2-0 Braves. Then he held Atlanta scoreless for the next six innings. Webb has gone seven innings and allowed two runs in four of his last six starts. He’s been one of the most consistent pitchers in fantasy this year and has a 3.09 ERA. The 27-year-old right-hander is set to face the Blue Jays at home next week.

    • Suffers ugly loss Thursday
      Maeda (2-5) allowed nine runs on nine hits across 3.2 innings to take the loss Thursday against the Twins. He walked three and struck out three.

      Advice: It was another ugly performance for Maeda, who saw his season ERA climb to 6.71. Outside of a clean first inning, the veteran allowed multiple runs to score in each of his other frames. Maeda had a decent 2023 campaign for these same Twins, posting a 4.23 ERA and 1.17 WHIP across 104.1 innings, but he hasn't carried that over into his first season in Detroit. The righty lines up to start again Tuesday against the Guardians, though at this point he can't be trusted by fantasy managers. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:19 pm
       
    • Ramping up workload
      Scherzer (1-2) took the loss Thursday, allowing three runs on six hits and a walk over 6.1 innings against the Padres. He struck out three.

      Advice: Scherzer tossed his first quality start of the season, pitching into the seventh while increasing his pitch count to 90 after having tossed 57 and 77 over his first two starts. While the effectiveness has been there through three starts, as evidenced by a 2.70 ERA and 0.84 WHIP, he's not received much run support, with the Rangers supplying a total of two runs over his last two outings, with each resulting in a loss. One trend to keep an eye on moving forward is Scherzer's strikeout numbers as he's tallied only 11 thus far through 16.2 innings. The last time Scherzer recorded fewer than a strikeout per inning was in 2011, his fourth season in the league.
