    Advice: Contreras had to leave Tuesday's contest in the second inning after his arm was struck by a J.D. Martinez swing. He will almost certainly spend an extended period of time on the injured list, leaving Ivan Herrera as the Cardinals' new primary catcher. We hate to speculate here, but it didn’t look good. There should be an update on his status at some time later this evening following some imaging, but he’s likely going to wind up missing some time. He topped out at 97 mph on his fastball and threw 39 pitches in his rehab debut. The 24-year-old righty is expected to be an option for Tampa Bay’s starting rotation at some point this summer, but remains without a definitive return target date as he continues to work his way back from Tommy John surgery.
