    • JP Sears bounced back with QS against D-Backs
JP Sears allowed three runs over six innings in a no-decision against the Diamondbacks on Friday.

Advice: Sears was atrocious against the Twins on Saturday while allowing nine hits and eight runs in 1 1/3 innings. He wasn’t perfect Friday, but calling this an improvement is quite the understatement. The southpaw struck out six, and he held the D-Backs to just two runs through five before a Lourdes Gurriel Jack to tie the game in the sixth and keep Sears from picking up the win. The outing lowers his ERA to an even 5.00, and he’ll look to build on this start when he faces the Angels on Thursday. Rotoworld 49 minutes ago

    • Homers in third straight game
Devers went 1-for-2 with a walk and a solo home run in Friday's 9-2 loss to the Padres.

Advice: The third baseman took Wandy Peralta deep in the sixth inning for Boston's final run of the night. Devers has homered in three straight games, and over the last 14 he's batting .321 (17-for-53) with four long balls, 11 RBI and 13 runs. Rotowire.com 52 minutes ago

    • Submits quality start
Webb allowed two runs on five hits and three walks while striking out six over seven innings in a no-decision versus the Dodgers on Friday.

Advice: Webb had a rough fifth inning, but other than that, he was his usually steady self. With the Giants' rotation in shambles due to injuries, getting a longer start out of Webb is a positive for the team's situation. He's gone at least six innings in 10 straight appearances, posting a 2.86 ERA over 66 innings with a 61:14 K:BB in that span. That's just a bit better than his 3.12 ERA for the year, which comes with a 1.22 WHIP and 97:26 K:BB across 112.1 innings through 18 starts. Webb's next start is projected to be at Atlanta. • Stunned by San Diego
Pivetta (4-5) took the loss Friday, coughing up five runs on seven hits and a walk over four-plus innings in a 9-2 loss to the Padres. He struck out four.

Advice: The right-hander was cruising through four innings, but San Diego erupted for all nine of its runs in the fifth before Boston's pitching staff was able to secure an out. Pivetta served up a two-run homer to Kyle Higashioka to begin that offensive outburst, and he's been taken deep five times in his last three starts, stumbling to a 6.46 ERA and 1.63 WHIP over that stretch despite a 13:3 K:BB in 15.1 innings. Pivetta will try to keep the ball in the park in his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road next week in Miami. Rotowire.com 54 minutes ago

    • Confirmed for start Saturday
The Diamondbacks will reinstate Gallen (hamstring) from the injured list to start Saturday's game against Oakland, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Advice: After spending nearly a full month on the injured list thanks to a right hamstring strain, Gallen will officially return to the D-backs' rotation Saturday. He never appeared in a rehab game with one of Arizona's minor-league affiliates, though he did throw a handful of simulated games, reaching 67 pitches in his most recent session Monday. It's unclear if the 28-year-old righty will be operating under a pitch/innings restriction during his first start back, but he will certainly have a favorable matchup against an Oakland offense that ranks 28th in MLB in runs scored (305). • Matt Chapman homers, steals base in victory
Matt Chapman stole a base and hit a two-run homer in a win for the Giants on Friday over the Dodgers.

Advice: Chapman hit a two-run homer off Daniel Hudson for his 10th homer of the season, and he stole his seventh bag of the year for good measure. The 31-year-old has been a mild disappointment thus far in 2024 — depending on expectations, of course — with a .235/.316/.399 slash, but the homers and steals have help balance things out a bit. • Brett Wisely hits walk-off homer against Dodgers
Brett Wisely hit a walk-off two-run homer against the Dodgers on Friday.

Advice: Baseball can be funny. Wisely hit a ball that just went foul that the Giants challenged went fair, and instead of what might have been a double, he ends up with a walk-off blast off Blake Treinen. Wisely also singled in this contest, and he’s been a strong performer for the Giants as seen in a slash of .304/.333/.461 with three homers and 14 RBI. Rotoworld 57 minutes ago

    • Camilo Doval blows save, still gets win vs. LAD
Camilo Doval gave up a run and blew a save Friday, but picked up the win against the Dodgers.

Advice: Doval gets the win because the stat is flawless and baseball is a fair and just sport. The right-hander gave up a triple to James Outman, and a sac fly from Jason Heyward tied the game at 3-3. That’s the third blown save of the year for Doval, who has provided more good than bad for fantasy managers in 2024 despite his 4.55 ERA. Rotoworld 57 minutes ago

    • Logan Webb spins seven innings in no-decision
Logan Webb gave up two runs in seven innings against the Dodgers on Friday while not qualifying for a decision.

Advice: Webb threw 62-of-93 pitches for strikes while walking three and fanning six. The right-hander gave up both runs in the fifth, and outside of that frame he was brilliant while lowering his ERA to 3.12 on the campaign. Webb isn’t immune to clunkers, but he’s been one of the best starting options in baseball since 2021. You already knew that, but it’s a good reminder. Webb’s next start is lined up for Thursday against Atlanta. Rotoworld 57 minutes ago
