    • Young on the bench Friday
Jacob Young is on the bench for the Nationals against the Phillies on Friday.

Advice: Young was in the leadoff spot when the Nationals last played on Wednesday. He’s hitting .262 with no home runs this year, but he also has 14 stolen bases in 34 games. Rotoworld Today, 12:36 pm

    • Not in Friday's lineup
Young is absent from the lineup for Friday's game in Philadelphia.

Advice: Young had started eight of the last nine contests, including six of them from the leadoff spot. He'll get a breather Friday, though, as Victor Robles patrols center field for the Nationals. Rotowire.com Today, 12:16 pm

    • Pilfers 14th bag
Young went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Wednesday's loss to the White Sox.

Advice: Getting another start in the leadoff spot, Young swiped his 14th bag of the season, tying him for fifth in the majors behind Elly De La Cruz (26), Jose Caballero (17), Brice Turang (16) and Bobby Witt (15). Young only has two successful steals through 12 games in May though, as his issues getting on base consistently are catching up to him -- he's slashing only .167/.295/.222 on the month. The Nationals have been shut out in back-to-back games and sit in the bottom six in runs scored and team OPS on the season, and unless Young heats up at the plate, his time at the top of the order is likely about to end. • Riley Greene sits, Kerry Carpenter starts vs. LHP
Riley Greene is getting a scheduled day off Wednesday, with Kerry Carpenter starting in right field against a lefty.

Advice: It’s the first time all season that Carpenter has been in the lineup against a southpaw and only the second time Greene has been rested. As great as Greene has been against righties this season, he’s hitting a mere .189/.268/.378 against southpaws, Rotoworld Wednesday, 7:30 am

    • Getting Wednesday off
Greene is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins.

Advice: Greene has started each of the Tigers' last 22 games and appears to be getting a breather as Detroit wraps up its series against the Marlins with a day game. Matt Vierling will pick up a start in left field in place of Greene, who hit .135/.200/.243 with 13 strikeouts over his last nine starts. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 7:06 am

    • Rehab games could come this week
White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said Monday that Robert (hip) could begin playing in games with the team's rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate later this week, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports.

Advice: The White Sox are aiming for Robert to be able to run at 90 percent effort in the coming days. If that happens, Robert is expected to be cleared for Complex League games. The 26-year-old presumably would eventually move up to a higher-level affiliate to continue his rehab. Robert has been out since early April with a Grade 2 right hip flexor strain but should return from the 10-day injured list before the end of the month if all goes well. Rotowire.com Monday, 2:47 pm

    • Luis Robert Jr. could play rehab games this week
The White Sox are hoping to get Luis Robert Jr. (hip) into rehab games later this week.

Advice: Robert still isn’t running at full strength, but the White Sox insist on being aggressive with injuries, no matter how often it’s come back to bite them. It doesn’t seem likely that Robert will spend much time on a rehab assignment, so he might back to contribute in fantasy leagues next week. Rotoworld Monday, 2:18 pm

    • Unsure about return timeline
Trout said Thursday that he doesn't yet have a timeline to return from the surgery he underwent on his left knee, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports. The slugger also stated that he was given the option to postpone surgery until after the season and play exclusively as a designated hitter, but he opted to get the procedure done immediately.

Advice: Trout underwent surgery to repair the meniscus in his left knee May 3. The Angels have stated that they expect the three-time AL MVP to return before the end of the season, but it remains unclear exactly how much time he's expected to miss. Though Trout could have played through the injury and held off on surgery in order to serve as the Angels' DH, he may not have been able to do so at his usual level of effectiveness, as he indicated that such a route would have required a high level of injury management and substantial pain. • Getting Sunday off
Young is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox.

Advice: Young will take a seat for the series finale after he went 2-for-17 with five walks, one double, one stolen base, three runs and one RBI while starting in each of Washington's last five games. Victor Robles will replace Young in center field while CJ Abrams takes over as Washington's leadoff hitter. Rotowire.com Sunday, 8:21 am
